If I dislike people that turn a discussion into a debate about the precise meaning and applicability of words, does that make me anti-semantic?

He's fucked off most of the USA, even the worlds, news agencies, so they're never going to show anything that represents him accurately.
Trump has an interview with Nigel Farage tonight, so he should get a chance to talk and air his views to a more favourable edit. I'll try and watch it at some point.

Who could have foreseen that the only reliable News channel would turn out to be FarageTV?

My point entirely. S'why i'm interested in watching it, mainly to see what the rest of the MSM can do to edit the clips to suit their portrayal of him. Of course, he may hang himself anyway...

Let me just clarify this.. You think Biden isn't suffering from impaired cognitive abilities? Holy fuck, what planet are you living on?

edited for you
Re: This time next year, President Trump moves back into the Whitehouse...
Biden is aging rather normally, Trump is deteriorating in a fashion that comes under pathology.
Biden is old, he moves slowly. His speech is affected by stuttering. If you bother to watch his rather dull chats at length, he can actually string sentences together and speak for 10s of minutes without spiraling down into what a difficult time everyone is giving him. He's a politician and pretty good at it. Don't take that as some sort of fawning praise. He's been one for at least 700 years, he's got experience and staying power. Push comes to shove I'm not too fond of politicians.
Anyway, compare to Trump's lengthy rambling grievance festivals. He can't go 2 minutes without bringing up the election cheating that didn't happen, the J6 "patriots," or just whining in general about how the deep state/justice dept/Biden are all conspiring to ruin his squeaky clean "I ain't dun nuttin' wrong" self.

Trump's issue is he misses far too many opportunities to shut the fuck up.

Yep, power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely......a human trait that's our ultimate downfall

Of course he is. He was a Democrat until he decided to run for POTUS.

Over here it's so peaceful, warm and tranquil, so we assume everyone is honest.
But, a few years ago the Govt had a crackdown and about 35 govt or council officials are now locked up after being found guilty of corruption.
Mainly over new hotels etc. Big money there.
And I see a couple more reported each year.
When their pictures are shown, they all look decent folk. Bastards.

As it states in the article, bribes are how business is done. Even the contracts manager on the development where we live was let go for crooked deals.
Dumb idiot built an extension on his own place using materials obtained from the contracts......very smart. Didn't help that he was obnoxious. Someone was going to get him.
These things come back and bite you sooner or later. The corrupt use of power and influence is like a drug to some.

I'm not so sure if power corrupts or if it is the corrupt that seek power. US history is loaded with scandalous politicians.

Fair point, however: you see evidence of how even a small amount of power over others can turn even the most level headed to become less than agreeable and prone to misuse of their power. Even small kids do this. It's part of our make up.
Add this to those that desire total power of a business or government and it's not hard to see why we get what we get. Even the big religions get dizzy with power and use it for all the wrong reasons. As a species we're good and messing things up, even those that could have merit.

I know a couple of guys in the construction business. One was selling an aircraft the other wanted. The seller was supplying concrete to the others housing construction. No money changed hands, but the buyer was billed for twice as much concrete as he needed...Buckaroo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2024 6:04 pm As it states in the article, bribes are how business is done. I don't believe everyone is susceptible to this pathology. I can point to my father as an example. He was superintendent of a mental health facility. Open door policy with all members of staff - they were welcome in his office to air any troubles they may have. I never heard him utter a negative comment about anyone and he was always there to help anyone that crossed his path.Buckaroo wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 10:08 am Fair point, however: you see evidence of how even a small amount of power over others can turn even the most level headed to become less than agreeable and prone to misuse of their power. Re: This time next year, President Trump moves back into the Whitehouse...
Biden regaled the media with the story of how he took a train across the bridge that was demolished by the container ship... It was never a rail bridge.
