Looked at my worktops this am. They have the curve thing. It looks like they've been cut with a scalpel! The edges are incredibly neat the joins are almost invisible. What do they cut them with?

They use a router and a straight cut bit in a steel template. The template is used for both edges and as you can see with yours they work very well. Having made a router table for myself I find I use it a lot more than the jigsaw as I can get a far better edge. For some cuts though the jigsaw is the tool of choice. Or maybe the bandsaw.

If you have a circular saw it's always going to be worth the effort to make a simple track. demo will have a posh one I'm sure but mine is simply two bits of plywood glued together. I'll take a picture later. Right now I'm off to a funeral.

Just got caught in biggest storm I've seen on this island. Rain was forecast but often it's very localised due to all the volcanoes affecting the rain.

Wow, it came out of nowhere and the sky went black. We tried to outrun it but we were in rough sandy area and slow progress. So bad that we quickly got split up. As soon as I hit tarmac, it was obvious the best choice was to head home. The hail was so big it was hurting my arms through the body armour and shirt. Was instantly soaked and cold. Had to put hand over face and goggles don't cover 100%

Half a mile from home it stopped and looked sunny here. It's still dry here but lots of thunder and lightning. It's coming

All gear was just dripping wet. Hot shower was lovely

Just called a mate and he took shelter in one of the storm drain tunnels we ride through. He said after 10 mins the water was up to his axles so had to get out

They all come square, then you use a jig to make it curvy and perfectly fitting. It's easy to do but you will spend hours mentally flipping and rotating pieces to make sure it's the right cut happening.

The two sections of worktop are cut using the 'J' shaped cutout and the undersides of the worktop are routed out using the mushroom shaped cutouts and then the two parts are clamped together for gluing using these worktop clamps:

And for even more reinforcement and accuracy the two sections are biscuit jointed.

Been using a jig-saw and drill/screwdriver and wondering why I have 2 × 1.5Ah Makita batteries. (As well as a bigger one). I know one drill came with the big battery+charger but the other drill was bought bare and I don't think the jig-saw came with little batteries...I thought that was bare too. (The box doesn't look big enough to have had batteries in as well and the little ones aren't really man enough for more than a few cuts...as I found today). Now I'm wondering whether there's another tool and charger somewhere.

The bit today was working up a ladder, the sun disappeared and it started to lash down so I legged it for a brew. Looking back at my handywork I saw the drill.......on the roof

It all needed moving 150mm so the washer will fit. next to the sink unit.
