I had some red trousers, people obviously found it infuriating and were unable to -not- say anything. I was quite sad when they had to be retired. If I was to do it again now, mid 50s, folk would assume I was having a breakdown.

I'm a bit bemused by all the flak for the non-GP XSR900. So what we're saying is that putting a half-fairing on a bike and giving it an 80's Marlboro fag packet paint job turns a bike from gopping to desirable? ...

I could spend all day picking it apart, the black frame makes it look cheap, the seat unit is hideous, the headlight looks silly, etc.

I actually prefer the black frame and think the silver/ali frame makes it look cheap, and while I don't think the seat is hideous, it could be a lot more pleasing. The whole back end is a bit of a disjointed mess on both models. And a round headlight is definitely of the 80's retro vibe, whereas the letterbox headlight on the GP to me is the one that looks silly.

But each to their own, it would be a boring world if we all liked the same things yadda, yadda...

The paintscheme on the bike on the left reminds me of my old JDM 1985 FZ750,& the nose cone of the one on the right reminds me of a Ducati
I think they'd be better with fairing mounted mirrors & a proper headlight to be seen with.
If I was younger I'd be seriously interested.

I saw pictures yesterday of them all lined up awaiting the media road testers and influencers. There was a lot of bikes.

Made me wonder what they do with them all afterwards, they can't sell them as brand new after they've been raped on the launch?

One of my KTMs was a demo/whatever thing from KTM, got at a great price, had 70 miles on it. I can't see how they could have ridden much harder than I did

Nah. I rode my bikes home from the shop. That was it. Then straight out on track.

Not mine. Me and couch had my 690 on track in back to back sessions at Donny with 100 miles on clocks

TBH I don't get why anyone takes any notice of roadtests, how does someone else know whether you'll like a bike.

Road tests are popular, magazines and TV have sold a lot of media on this stuff, I don't get why you don't like reading about road tests if they're done well.

I'm interested in this XSR but with all the go-faster bits then it's big bucks, it'a about £18k and I think that's a lot of money to spend on a motorcycle unless it's something quite special that makes you feel really good about it - and I don't think it is.

But I suppose I'm not an average punter, I'd be paying cash in full, whereas the average bloke will have gone for one of the finance packages and he won't look at the big bottom line, he'll see a couple of hundred quid a month and sign himself up.

For that price you can get a proper sports bike rather than one tarted up to pretend to be one.

BUt does that matter in the slightest ? They're not double the price of 24 models anyway... but yes they're more money.

However it's like buying a car without a radio and air-con "can't help but feeling i'm getting charged more for things" well that's just the world we live in, you want something 'different' then it's more expensive than the base item.

You could wait 12 months and get a GP version for less.... but really, why...

It's £12285 vs a base model at £107900 i mean does it really really matter ?
