'midlife crisis' did you ? are you ? will you ?
Is is just a term that's thrown about for being a random muppet ? Or did you jump in and do something others would consider a midlife crisis ?
I think mine mostly passed me by really. Whilst i did the motorbike racing and the MTB racing, i was doing them before what you'd consider to be a MLC and will continue with the MTB racing when i'm older than this...
I didn't do the flash cars thing, the holiday thing, or cheating on the missus with a 22 year old...
How about you ?

Got married at 40 and had a sprog.
Not a crisis, let alone a 'rock and roll lifestyle'!

My mate BeeDubya said he wasn't going to have a second childhood. Well, not until he'd thoroughly finished the first.

Nearest I got was buying a bike again, but it was the missus with her nose pressed up against the showroom window going 'Ooh, I like that one' that tipped the balance. (We had covered lots of miles on bikes before and she'd had rider training/test in the early days but was happier on the back seat).
Oh...I did buy a dark purple, short sleeved shirt at the airport when we were going on holiday once. She said 'You do know it's purple don't you?'. 'Yup' sez I.

My Brother inlaw got a lift home by a workmate one night on a motorbike. He was adamant he was passing his test and buying a Harley. My sister was just laughing at him saying midlife crisis. He was going round the bike shops looking at clothing for weeks and was at me about where to go for the test and training but it never came to anything. He would have been around 55 when this happened and i think 67 now. Retired but went back part time as he hates retirement but hates being full time just as much. Twat, should have bought a Harley.

I don't think so. Apparently I had a little existential crisis when I turned 30,but only Mrs.Skub remembers. I don't recall half the stuff she allegedly remembers.
I actually don't know what I would do for my midlife crisis anyway. I've never been into cars, nor have I chase fanny since I was married. What else is there? Buy a wig, botox up the wazoo?
Sounds altogether too much trouble for too little return.

Re: 'midlife crisis' did you ? are you ? will you ?
Depends who you talk to!! Apparently taking my bike test (age 27) and then buying a bike (age 32) was apparently a MLC. But I felt it was just going back to the age I actually was instead of being old before my time.
Same people - apparently leaving a 'normal' job to go and do seasons is definitely a MLC. But TBF, I needed a change!
Then, having a go at racing (slowly, sadly!) was another effort - which happened at about the time I decided to move countries!
So, according to some I've had 4 MLCs so far and rather think I'm past midlife and crises now! Now I'm just mentally younger than my bones are and intend to follow the guide of "I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up" - that I should have been following in my 20's when I did actually get old!!

Left my then wife shortly after my 40th, so yep I did have a crisis.
Single life for about 7 years before marrying again.

Maybe.
When I was 40 I got a skateboard again, that was never going to end well. I smashed my elbow when I was a teenager, this time it was my leg. Nearly lost it to osteomyelitis too. 18 months on crutches, the wife hated me for it.
Good job its raining or I might get it out again

I think it's about time I had one. I've always put it off because I wasn't ready to admit I'd reached mid-life.

I had a real one when I was 45-50, not a buying a sports car comedy one, but a real honest to God depression, worst period of my life, shit show, it really was crap, and entirely self induced

Likewise.
I have no idea when the end will happen so had no idea when the mid point would be.
In reality though it's probably too late for a mid life crisis now.

I don't think it's supposed to be a specifically designed date based upon when you think may die.Yambo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 5:48 amCousin Jack wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 7:20 pm I think it's about time I had one. I've always put it off because I wasn't ready to admit I'd reached mid-life.

Rubbish, if you REALLY want one you can do it now. Age is just a number.Yambo wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 5:48 amCousin Jack wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2024 7:20 pm I think it's about time I had one. I've always put it off because I wasn't ready to admit I'd reached mid-life.

Midlife crisis mixed with possible ADHD/Autism equals a whole load of possible interests/money pits that become laser like focus that you never follow through on

Why call it a crisis? What about epiphany or awakening?
