Years ago I found out my neighbour had a Cobra rep in his garage. He'd messed up the body chopping it about trying to widen it to fit an auto box in. I often wonder if its still languishing at the back of his garage...

I don't think the Countach was ever about the drive, or even the performance. It was all about the looks. And even if you didn't like driving it, I bet you looked really, really cool.

The father of a kid I was at school with had one back around 1976, allegedly the third one in the UK at the time. Got a few rides in it when his dad saw me walking between the villages where I lived in Cornwall. His collection included a DBS Vantage, Pantera, Gilburn, & Firebird.
He (Ernie Marshal) still has newer Lambos, lives in Micheal Foot's old gaff in Callinton & has a EE Lightning on the lawn.

In other news, I threw another bid at that F350. Also discovered it's far cheaper to insure than my ShitBox Accord.

Fuel isn't a consideration either. I gassed up the SBH a grand total of four times last year. It's been gassed up once this year & the tank is damn near full right now.
If I win the auction (unlikely given the flurry of bidding today) I'd drop that spare tire carrier under the bed for an *in-bed* bracket & swap the rear 19gal tank out for the (aftermarket) 40 gallon version. My last F350 held 77 gallons in three tanks (20, 40 & 17)

If you bought the Ferrari, it would spend most of its time in a garage being fixed, and the amount of money you'd spend keeping it up together would negate any potential increase in value.
The Porsche on the other hand will be as reliable as a timex watch (unless the balance shaft goes), but will be ruinous to your spine unless it lives on a track.
As an aside, I've found red Ferrari's generate unfeasible amounts of animosity towards them, whether it be jealousy or envy. You wouldn't park a convertible one anywhere with the roof down, would you?

Back to the choice, I consider the two brands very different, probably more based on image and anecdote than truth... but I definitely think of Ferrari as much more of a delicate, brittle supercar than I do the 930, and as such I'd be more scared about buying one. I'd also definitely go for the 308/328 as being (subjectively) the pinnacle of Ferrari beauty, even if the 348 and 355 are bound to be 'better' in every way.

I'm possibly a little biased as I own a 911.

So, on balance, I'd take the 930 over the 355, but a nice 308/328 would probably top both for me.

LOL! I used to have a black one with a 460CobraJet in it. At the time there were 10 Duallys on my 1/2 mile street (32 homes), they're popular at this end of the county, not so much down the hill in LA.

Depends on the weight? Although I remember something about being able to drive a Deuce and a half on a car licence because it doesn't have air brakes.

Over here, you'd probably need at least a C1 and have it registered as private HGV.

The Porsche makes sense in pretty much every way, not least because a good mate I went to school with owns a Porsche specialist place and I know he'd look after me.

But Ferarris have a strange place in my head, it's a bit more than just buying a car.
I've had a 911 and it was ok, but it wasn't a Ferrari.

I fancy a 456 or 550 Ferrari as a more "special" but very usable alternative to a 911. Yeah, I know they are oldish, but there's lots of low mileage ones out there. a V12 up front and room in the back for the shopping
Leftfield choice would be an A110 Alpine.
