As we've had a dry sunny few days, i thought i'd take the tops off the lawns. Mower was out of petrol. Decided going to Tesco on a saturday isnt a great idea, so i'd use the makita 36v mower, but one of the batteries was flat as the wife had used it in the sander. Battery on charge and i go to Tesco and get petrol. Mower started instantly but revved its nuts off. Grabbed a branch and got the ht cap off before it blew itself to kingdom come. WD on the linkage and all is well. I start to cut the lawns and the wife calls out, "are you not doing the panelling today"? :hmmm:

Found a nice Kaw ZL1000 Eliminator for sale at a great price, would have grabbed it, but it's in North Carolina so shipping makes it not such a great deal.
Bugger.

Have they branched out into family butchery?

I've been to the Madrid Archaeological museum, very good it was too, and spent some time on the metro system*. I found a really useful toolshop but it was closed, I'll go back another day. It's quite difficult to buy metric only tape measures in the UK. It was even before Brexit, I bought my last ones when I holidayed in Greece in 2003.

*I got to see Spanish boarding in action, you leave the train one side and the boarders get on on the opposite side, the door opening timing be adjusted accordingly. It looked to work well.

Shared a vote de boeuf in M&S recently. It was pretty epic, but tbh I’d rather have had the sea bass!

Laid flowers on my Mum's and stepmum's graves, had a laugh and a coffee with my sister and sorted out a broken wire on the H1's underseat voltmeter.

Tonight I am on my own,so I'll be having a curry and catching up with Motogp.

Was expecting a 5am start for driving this morning but the guy that hadn't confirmed his jobs finally did so I thought I was only going to do a Lyon and back transfer.

Nope, I was in the office all day. Kinda nice but definitely weird as I haven't done that since the beginning of the season!!!

Started at 8am, finished at 8.30pm - only managed a 15 minute break :o :o :o

Got home bloody starving

Really should have gone to bed already as have a 5.15am pick up tomorrow (alarm set for 4am  )

BUT - with luck and a following wind I'll be back for the Rugby :obscene-drinkingcheers: :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Spent all fucking day, only just jacked it in and only got this far.

I think it's going to take me a while.

Sometimes I consider if being the stereotypical Yorkshireman is the right mind set to have.

I had a guy come and fit my catflap on Friday. He was from Yorkshire (or he did a very good accent!) and he probably laughed all the way to the pub after taking this particualr softy southerner for wad of cash to cut an 'ole in t'door.

I'm disappointed you didn't do it yourself with some sort of CNC ion beam cutter, accurate to a fraction of a micron.

PS Yesterday I installed a new light over the sink in the end suite. Today I bought a pair of hiking shoes (Scarpa) in an actual shop.

I noticed that everyone gets on the metro and immediately goes on their phone, no one has a conversation at all.

Lots of homeless that appeared after about 8pm when I was there, is it still the same??

I am still pondering idly why the panel has uneven thicknesses of polystyrene in it.

It goes UPVC, expanded poly, chip board, different thickness of poly and then UPVC again...

I can't say I've noticed either but then I've not be looking to notice IYSWIM. They are almost as obedient as Germans when crossing the road.

Yesterday I used my new joinery clamps for the first time.

(Got one of those house name signs made from a slice of log and the bark edge is coming off. Glued and clamped it. Probably a complete waste of time and I'll end up stripping all the bark off and yacht varnishing it but it was nice to use some proper clamps. Need some bigger ones now for project 'repair garden bench'. :D ).

Next job is putting guttering and rain barrels on the newly painted cabin.

Took the breadknife to her surgeon's for a check up after an op, & got the all clear for her to drive again. So back to the office for me tomorrow :)

Helped my daughter pack her bag for camp. Ran with the dogs. All nice things
