Identify please?

As above… it’s my mate’s great-uncle, dated in the 1920’s. He died in 1925. Any idea what the bike is?

Actually, I asked in the bike section on a motorhome forum. They're all old codgers

With a bit of googling, Humber made a 2.75 hp 340cc v twin between 1911 and 1914, it won the 1911 Junior TT.

Don't believe him Pike! Back in the 20's Yorick had a string of Humber V-twins, never paid more than 2/6 mind. He'd track these to within an inch of their lives before trading the old girl for a new un. This was back in the olden black 'n white days though when he still back in olde Blighty dealing with the cold 'n rain and warm beer

If you have an Android phone 'long press' the picture and then in the menu which pops up select "Search image with Google lens" and you'll see loads of results for the same/similar bikes with links to websites.

Or on a PC you can copy and paste it into the Google search box and do the same thing.

To add some story to the picture: the rider is Harold Edwards. The family were from Stockport, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Harold died of pneumonia in his 20s, his older brother Edward was gassed a few weeks before the end of WW1, in 1918. A sister committed suicide shortly after that, and only 2 of the girls survived to “old age”, one being Paul’s granny. Probably not an unusual story from those times, but quite sobering. Our expectations are a bit different nowadays, and maybe we complain more…

I used to live just round the corner from the Humber factory.
Just reading Wikipedia to see if the motorbikes were made there ( they had other factories, Beeston was the first ) it seems Humber are credited with being the first practical motorcycle built in UK.

You might find a real one in Wollaston Hall, they have Brough Superiors and other bikes made in Nottingham (it's years since I've been in there).
