When road bikes nowadays have traction control it seems a retrograde step to me to outlaw it on race ones. Yes it's great for the ones who have such fine judgement that they can handle it unassisted but do we really want to watch races where a few people lap the rest of the field? Then you have the issue, going back to 500 days, where you finished the season with half the grid carrying broken bones after highsiding multiple times. Levelling the field makes for more interesting racing, and while the uncontrolled proliferation of technology that none but the factories can afford is counterproductive, technology that's available to all and which doesn't take them too far from road bike development can only be a good thing.

The manufacturers are going to lobby for the minimum amount of aero restriction, as that is the current battleground and I doubt they want to see all their aero development scrapped. I really hope that the Technical Commission holds its nerve on this and substantially reduces aero - it might even make the bikes look a bit better. Definitely ban ride height devices and also ban launch devices - reducing the speed at which everyone piles into the first corner has to be a good thing in terms of safety, Shirley? As for the capacity reduction, I'd say it's inevitable. It's a guaranteed way to slow the bikes down. It's a tricky balancing act; if they reduce capacity to 850cc then Moto2 won't be that far behind in terms of engine size, either. And if MotoGP bikes are getting too fast for racetracks around the world, then the same must surely be the case very soon for WSBK. I wouldn't be surprised if restrictions were on the way for WSBK - they won't be allowed to upstage MotoGP. Will they?
