World's most irritating DJ? It's a big field of runners and riders for that one. In those times it was pretty much everyone apart from John Peel (and some people didn't like him much either).
(Anyone with a nickname was up there with a chance, Hairy Cornflake, Fluff, Diddy But they all paid homage to Kenny Everett).

I graduated from R1 years ago, now I’ve left 2 and am wandering around the airwaves like a fart in a trance. Homeless.

Re: Just Dead Celebrity Express Thread !
Steve Wright had a huge impact on radio entertainment, there aren’t many people that won’t have been influenced in some way.
Some of his stuff was magic, like The Terminator in funny situations, the sketch where he tried to sign onto the dole was a cracker. IMO his stuff was right up there with the best of any comedy shows ever.
I bet he’d be infuriating to share an office with, his wackiness would drive you mad, but for comedy sketches he was golden.

Dave Myers of the Hairy Bikers fame - Dave Myers: The Hairy Bikers star, who had cancer, dies at 66
Dave Myers, one half of TV cooking duo The Hairy Bikers, has died at the age of 66, two years after revealing he had been diagnosed with cancer.

I thought he was on the road to recovery, but he still looked pretty ill. It's a real shame.
I rather enjoyed their kind of childish delight in everything. The pair of them brought a bit of 'ordinary blokes having fun' to TV.

Sad. They always came across as nice blokes and not all 'telly'.
Ironic that it was Si King who had the big health scare a few years back with his jam tart.

They just made a series which is airing now, so I thought he was over it too. Great shock to see show up in my news feed.Count Steer wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 12:43 pm

Yes, didn't see that one coming. RIP Dave; the world is a more dreary place for your passing.
