+ building trades.
(I expect quite a few people in the building industry said 'Uggber it' and went home over the last couple of years saying 'If you want your tax, come and get it').

£2M. Impressive! (Mine dew, the penalties are impressive too. It looks like they actually owe £600k, £1.4M is the penalty charge ).Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 7:12 pm Haha...I recognise the name of number 2, think I've seen there vans about.

The way I read it, the penalties are on top of the debt shown.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 8:23 am£2M. Impressive! (Mine dew, the penalties are impressive too. Could be, I didn't pay too much attention but the penalties are still pretty fruity though. Probably irrelevant/cosmetic too. A lot of the people - particularly in construction - on the list will routinely declare bankruptcy almost as part of their normal business cycle.David wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 8:47 amThe way I read it, the penalties are on top of the debt shown.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 8:23 am£2M. Not going to pay £600k? have a penalty...which you probably won't pay either. It's a bit like the old days, go overdrawn because you're skint, bank writes you a letter to tell you you are overdrawn and charges you £20 for the letter. Now you're more skint and more overdrawn than before.
One thing the penalties do is bump up the figure that the department claims it is chasing, which can't do any harm when it comes to pitching their staffing budget.
Cynical? Moi?
