There are hardly any proper 'tourers' now. Honda have the Wing, BMW the twin RT and 6cyl LT.

Everything else is styled to look like an adventure bike. Even the GTX-GT has the 'pointy' styling.

3 of our lads have V4S Panigales. I don't consider 20 grand a lot. It's not dead money.
I was gonna spend 20k on my Suzuki. But thankfully they had a mega sale.

And you can't compare the MT10 to a proper Superbike.

We clearly move in different circles. V4S Panigales are playthings for rich kids who need to have the 'fastest and the best'. If you can afford it, why not? But they're out of reach of all but the most well-heeled. I coudn't countenance spending £20k on a bike; I'd have trouble justifying to myself on spending half that amount on a bike.

And the point is that you can compare the MT10 and an R1. Under the skin they share an awful lot of components, despite looking very different.

R1s were 8 or 9 grand ish when first launched right? That's about 15k or maybe a smidge more in 2024 money.

The council spec V4 Multistrada is £17k, with all the bells and whistles it's £32k.

Base model R1300GS is £16k.

Not that I'd pay the asking price for an R1 or even a Multistrada.

Bikes just aint as popular as they used to be, someone has to pay the R&D for the latest and greatest model.
