Nope. Simply not true. Cats are very clean animals. Dogs are not. And my wife has a nose that would put a bloodhound to shame - if the cat was smelly he'd have been out the door by now.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 11:52 amI don't care if you follow it around 24/7 and empty the tray within 5 minutes of it curling one out, it stinks and your house smells of it.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 11:43 amOur cat, even as a kitten, never pissed or shat anywhere other than his litter tray or someone else's garden. A choice between having a home smelling like wet dog and slobber or cat piss & shit, yeah I'll choose neither thanks.
You're used to it, and its fine for you, but if a non pet owner walked in they'd notice long before they saw they saw the cat.

Re: Are cats better than dogs?
Two cats and a dog. The cats rule the house. They shit in their own huge garden, are considerate, affectionate and nuts. The dog needs to be cared for, walked and given a lot of attention. I do love the hound and really enjoy walking her, but I am a cat person at heart. Both my boys know that and love curling up on my lap for some cuddles when they feel it necessary, both make a fuss of me when I am feeling down or sick. They just know. The dog always makes a fuss of me, she does not differentiate.

With dogs the affection is indiscriminate and unconditional. With cats you have to earn it. Piss them off enough and they will simply up sticks and find someone who will treat them better.
I respect that.

I don't care if it's a cat, dog, budgie or hamster, they smell, that you or your wife don't find it overly onerous or offensive or are used to is great for you, but they still smell.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 11:56 amNope. So do all humans, some more than others. Houses can stink, even when there are no animals in the house.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:08 pmI don't care if it's a cat, dog, budgie or hamster, they smell, that you or your wife don't find it overly onerous or offensive or are used to is great for you, but they still smell.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 11:56 amNope. Well obviously, my study stinks of vape, not a problem for me but visitors comment on it now and again, but then I'd sooner smell that than animals, at least while I'm at home.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:18 pmSo do all humans, some more than others. So it's a bit like people popping up on fooball threads and loudly proclaiming they don't like football, then?MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:47 pmWell obviously, my study stinks of vape, not a problem for me but visitors comment on it now and again, but then I'd sooner smell that than animals, at least while I'm at home.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:18 pmSo do all humans, some more than others. But one can have a view as to whether cats are better than dogs but still not like either.
Stupid question anyway, pubic lice are better than dogs FFS, less irritating and their bites don't kill you.

Re: Are cats better than dogs?
Had cats for about 15 years and then got dogs after the last cat died of old age and have had a dog for about 10 years and the second one for a couple of years. I did love having the cats but much prefer having the dogs even if they are more work.

I've lived with cats (we have one now), but if you're not living in an environment with those odours, your sense of smell soon stops ignoring them and you'll smell them again when you go into a house with cats (or dogs, or petrol, or whatever).

Re: Are cats better than dogs?
I've had a dog and two Siamese cats. I enjoyed both, but since Mrs.Skub isn't overly fond of animals, especially dogs,I don't have any now.
I don't really have a cat/dog preference,I like animals,but I'm lazy and won't be bothered with the necessary commitment.

Hell yes, I'd never have a pet, but put a gun to my head and make me decide cats or dogs, then dogs win 101 times out of 100.cheb wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 3:21 pmmangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 3:09 pmSo it's a bit like people popping up on fooball threads and loudly proclaiming they don't like football, then?MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 1:47 pm
