Ducati Scrambler : I'm not convinced

It's something i arguably SHOULD like.... but.. well... I just don't get it.

I love the look of the Desert Sled.

I'm on a Moto Guzzi Friendface group and I'd say half the guys on there swapped from a Scrambler to a V7. I suspect that's more to do with Hipster aesthetics rather than any other flaws.

Ducati have also been doing some great finance deals on the Scramblers, which suggests to me they're not selling as many as they'd like.

They look better in the flesh IMO. I think the viewing angle side on makes the seat look like an after thought.

I really like the Desert sled and quite like the 1100. Aylesbury Ducati were flogging some pre-registered one off at a really good price. I was tempted as I can get the VAT back so basically getting a new 1100 for under £8k

I can see the point of street scramblers where I live as there are lots of easy to ride off road tracks.

I like the look of this 650 Royal Enfield Street Scrambler. Sadly it was nothing more than a design exercise.

I tried one of the Scramblers when they first came out and they felt tiny. The only selling point i could see at the time as the smaller capacity ones were A2 compliant for the middle license holders to actually buy a Ducati.

I havent tried one of the 1100cc ones yet but i they dont fit what i want from a bike anyway

They do nowt for me even though, on paper, they should be a better bike than the triumph - lighter, livlier - but the styling is off. I didn't really get the monster either though.

I am not a giant, just a bit taller than some . The little scramblers felt tiny compared to the Fazer 600 i ride for work. Same engine capacity but i always thought the early Scramblers were aimed at the A2 and dare i say smaller female market due to their size. The later ones are a bit bigger but remember mate, you might be a short arse but you still rode a GS1150 iirc which are not made for little peeps

Aye, I've ended up under my GS a couple of times, the engine bars are more for my protection than anything else.

Just for idle comparison, my missus is currently on a Suzuki GSX-S 125 and she can get the toes of both feet firmly on the ground but she can get more of each foot on the ground when on my MT-09. The Scrambler appeals to her as well given it's not a physically big bike so you might be right about Ducati's intended market for them.

Its not all about seat height mate and length of leg, its a lot to do with the seat and frame width on the rear section. The mid 2000's ZX6 and ZX10's had a very narrow seat width at the front to the extent a few female friends who couldnt get feet down on a CBR600 could on a ZX10 so thats what they ended up with
