Ooh....only 98 miles away. Could be a plan.

Could do that, anyone know if spectators can camp at the track?

For 'certain events'. :hmmm:

I seem to remember that the locals at CC are a bit uppity and the number of events are restricted (as are noise levels - obvs) - so they may restrict other stuff like camping but it's a long time since I was there. Pretty circuit iirc.

Dunno, competitors can ( well, in vans etc at least)so guessing you'll be able to if there's grass there, it was 1989 when I was last there and can't remember :D - reckon @KungFooBob will likely know - Bob?

Will try and make Castle Combe if there's a few going. If not Brands might be a goer for me as that's closest. Pity no Snet as can do that combined with a nice route, will see if there's a nicer way to Combe without it being too many extra miles/hrs

There's very very little space at Combe on a race day. The competitors pretty much fill up every spare inch of paddock. There might be somewhere for spectators to camp, but I didn't see it. There's a field to one side of the paddock, but last time I was racing it was full of the Lansdowne old boys.

There's plenty of space for spectators to camp at Cadwell, Prembrey or the Sea of Angels. They've got large grassed area's that don't get used much because competitors prefer hard standing.

I've seen the field across the road used in the past.

Was it your sister who had a camp site in Wiltshire?

Yep, My SiL has a farm at All Cannings near Devizes, less than 30 mins away....

Think i have more chance of popping to Cadwell or Brands for the day in all honesty as Castle Combe is only a 500 mile round trip ;)

Well, the old shitter is now ready for its first ride since the rebuild this week-end with @Dodgy69 at an Oulton TD, hopefully in not too chilly or moist conditions, but whatever the weather it will get ridden .

I've changed a fair bit from how it was so I have a good few things to test/ set up and potentially change, hopefully nothing will fall off or break, but I'll be taking a van full of spares and tools and anticipate it could involve a fair bit of spanner action, and be interesting and/or frustrating, but whatever way I'm sure (well, almost  ) that we'll have fun :king:

I don't think (not true, actually I know... ) that I have posted any pictures of the paint job yet, and that's really as I'm not happy with it, and expect derision but well, fuck it- the original intention was to have it in the 1970s TZ Yam gloss white with a red stripe down the middle, and that is what I did first but the white showed just how dented, rough and generally shitty the tank and seat was and looked awful so I did it satin black instead.
That didn't turn out as nice, or cool looking as I'd hoped and it still looks shit IMO, but definitely slightly less so, and that's how it's staying for the time being at least so this is how it now looks

Reports to follow after the weekend :hmmm:

People get too prissy about race bikes.

They're for racing.

They only need to look pretty if you've got a ton of sponsors.
