Oil = £30

Filter =£10

Brake pads front and rear = £100

Total = £140

575 - 140 = £435 for labour? :shock:

£115 VAT, so knock that off too, and ~~£80+?/hr so… it soon mounts up. All garages are expensive. I don’t always mind, as long as matey knows what he’s doing. Not always the case. (£575 is still a big number tho).

Poor driver was very shook up. It was very busy for a good 30 minutes whilst we setup the “Emergency Switch Off” and then once we had a better idea of location and response staff arrived on the scene we were able to get power back on to the trains at Gatwick and shorten the switched off bit.
From my Tube driving days there were some proper nasty suicides, some drivers never seemed to mind, some you never saw again. I knew one bloke that had totted up five!!
Many years ago Selhurst Depot had a driver nicknamed “The Terminator”……….
I worked there from 1983-89, so only six years. In that time I had three incidents where for example I was braking into an eastbound platform at the same time someone jumped under a westbound train. I spent most of my time on the Piccadilly Line. We ran without stopping through the District Line stations between Hammersmith and Acton. A memorably scary was approaching Turnham Green, it's a bit uphill from Hammersmith and the view wasn't the best. As the platform came into view I'm doing 60mph and there were two young girls sitting with their legs dangling over the edge, I let go of the handle and leaned on the whistle, a random bloke looked round, sprinted across the platform and yanked the pair of them up and out of the way. I genuinely thought they were dead. The train was well through the platform by the time it stopped, I opened the door and looked back, the bloke was giving the girls a talking too but waved to say all was good.

I think your prices might be a bit light there, but even then it does seem a bit top heavy. This was a belt service with new tyres on my Ducati.

I just took my stepdad home. I watched him get in the door and just as he closed it, a car pulled up behind me. I went to drive off and blue lights started flashing. As there are a lot of car thefts in the area at present, they wanted to check my car wasn't nicked. I was quite happy to confirm name and address and show ID. I was actually impressed they are being so proactive! :thumbup:

Today I met my hero. No, sorry, Super Hero :D

Had awesome ride today to the southern most point we ride to, Femez. As we chomped our sarnies in the local cafe, we saw a kid on a small bike in t-shirt and shorts trying to get up the hill opposite, Kept us amused for a while and eventually came back down.
We forgot about him and then we set off up the big hill behind us, up to the big towers above Femez.

Half way up this tricky climb, we came across the same dude :D Gave him the thumbs up as we passed, not expecting to see him again.
When we got to the top, we decided to wait, just in case.
Yup, he appeared :D We applauded him and he was grinning like mad
It was a 125 hire bike on skinny road tyres and he was in t-shirt and shorts :D

We told him that we were going to ride the full length of the ridge and come down into Ye. A bloody tough descent, but told him we'd take care of him.
Couldn't take pics of the tricky bits, but you'll get an idea of the descent.

He managed it all and we found an easier bit at the end for him.

It was like Candid Camera :D

And it was his first time ever, riding off road

Top geezer. Polish lad called Cam, who's working in Manchester

Started the CBR after 2 months of being parked up and went down the a12 for half an hour - forgot to turn the fuel on and thought I’d have to call breakdown for the first time in years but remembered at the last minute.
No dramas.

I'm still buzzing after the awesome day. Apart from the Candid Camera episode, we rode 6 hours today.
Can't ever remember riding that long. Having so much fun, I wasn't tired at all.
Taking the dirt right to the house, whereas usually take tarmac last mile coz tired.

We only do that southern route a couple of times a year, but we found a couple of new climbs.

I'm absolutely buzzing. Even having a night off the dry month.

Sometimes life is amazing.
