Re: In todays news...
Jones gets suspended for stating that any British citizen who volunteers to fight for the IDF (who have murdered thousands of civilians) should be locked up. Starmer proving that he is absolutely spineless when it come to Israel.irie wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 6:15 pm Another one bites the dust.

Labour suspends parliamentary candidate Graham Jones over 'unacceptable' Israel comments
He also withdrew support for Azhar Ali, one of the reasons being that he suggested "people in the media from certain Jewish quarters" were fuelling criticism of a pro-Palestinian Labour MP. I'm taking a wild guess that had he simply left it at 'people in the media' there wouldn't have been any uproar, but the suggestion of 'certain Jewish quarters' exerting influence was the straw that broke Starmer's spine.
I'll leave these here, from the same article
The Jewish Labour Movement
Labour must stand Graham Jones down as a parliamentary candidate and conduct a disciplinary investigation.
From another Sky article, referring to any Labour member who attended the meetingJewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester and Region
firm and decisive action against their parliamentary candidate for Hyndburn, Graham Jones
The Jewish Labour Movement
Well, they're identifiable. They all ought to be suspended pending investigation

It's scarcely believeable, but all legitimate criticism of the state of Israel is now automatically classed as anti-semitism. How did we allow that to happen?

The IDF is the army of our ally Israel. It’s perfectly acceptable for British Jews and other volunteers to join.

This is what many pro-Palestine supporters would have you believe as a way of trying to legitimise their own anti-semitism.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 5:58 pm It's scarcely believeable, but all legitimate criticism of the state of Israel is now automatically classed as anti-semitism. Because there is right and wrong on both Israel and Hamas sides, they can both be legitimately criticised.
What is not legitimate is to criticise Israel in terms of being Jewish, in the same way that it is not legitimate to criticise Hamas in terms of being Muslim.
However, unless and until Hamas renounces its Covenant, the central aim of which is complete destruction of the state of Israel, Israel will continue to try to destroy Hamas.
I'm an atheist btw so have no irons in this fire.

Meanwhile, the IDF have killed over 10,000 Palestinian children since October. I doubt they knew or cared much about the Hamas covenant you're so obsessed with.irie wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 9:20 pmThis is what many pro-Palestine supporters would have you believe as a way of trying to legitimise their own anti-semitism.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 5:58 pm It's scarcely believeable, but all legitimate criticism of the state of Israel is now automatically classed as anti-semitism.
