I've been handed my childhood stamp collections this afternoon.

I didn't do any collecting, the man who lived next door to my mum and dad collected them for me.

There's three albums, two are full of mostly used stamps from any country you could possibly imagine. I've got some great 1980's F1 cars from Portugal.

One album has all the good stuff, I don't think much of it is worth any money, but I might get them valued at some point.

I think these are the only ones worth real money, but then I don't think penny blacks and reds are worth as much as people think, unless they're really mint and unused.

I think the Concorde ones and the Ascension Island RAF ones are my fave.

The car ones are actually from Paraguay.

My parents had a subscription collection for me, I can't think of how you could put less effort in

It does mean I have every special edition Royal Mail stamp from the period 1984-2002 though.

I've got those books with all the coins from that year in plastic blisters, early 1980's to early 90's too, but I don't think they're worth more than the face value of the coins.

My Da was a lifelong philatelist,obsessive and ocd didn't cover it. By the time he was in his 80s the collection was valued at quite a few £10ks. He gave it all away to a missionary hospital charity,I didn't know until I asked him one day. He said he didn't think I'd be interested.
Which was likely true.

Just sold a penny black last week, by coincidence. It and few reds raised a bit less than £3 grand.

Penny reds are mostly 2 a penny, I had several dozen back in my yoof. Penny backs can be worth a bob or two, but only a few special ones are worth a lot.

Collections of pretty themes (I collected railway engines) are interesting, but mainly worthless.

Not sure where my collection went, one of my brothers may have it.

My brother was into that shit but he was also a member of the chess club at school and played a Claranet.
