Well according to the home decor expert it should work well with the Overtly Olive on the feature wall.

Today has been getting better.

In the January sales I bought a 20V rattle gun from Lidl. Never used it but went to charge the battery today.

The fucking charger is dead as a doornail. Can I find the receipt? Can I buggery.

Then, I go to change the car insurance onto my Fabia as the new V5 came back with my plate on it.

Insurance webside doesnt recognize the new reg.

Of course, no customer services on a sunday.

Great.

I was too busy thinking how to get this view to avoid typos.

Farking wanker cyclists. Don't mean the average cyclists.
No, the elite cyclists who come to train here in winter months and think they own the roads. Ride in groups of 20 to 30, blocking passage and creating big tail backs on hilly roads.
And still ride flat out through town after the main ride, ignoring families on holidays with kids. No-one likes them. Arrogant pricks.

Today i set off on my usual ride. First mile dirt path, then join the road into town. I saw a big group of about 30 heading my way, but pulled out in plenty of time and pulled to the right kerb.
The first few passed me just before a right turn, then suddenly turned right before me and whole pack followed.
I had to jam on and put both feet down to stop hitting the road. I could hear them all laughing.

But I guessed where they were going and they had to negotiate a busy junction and a roundabout.
I knew a shortcut on dirt path so arrived just before them at the zebra crossing.
Pushed the bike out and slowly followed, blocking the whole road :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Nobody fell off, but was carnage :D

I laughed just as loud as they did.

DIY in general, plumbing specifically.

Ripped out the Gremlinette's room and en-suite when she buggered off to uni. That was back in September and it's been sat there ever since in a state of dusty abandonment.

I went in there today to see where I need to pick up from and ended up offering up the new low-level shower tray to the wall. Although we specified the waste in the same location, different brands have their own designs and of course, the Law of Sod says the new waste sits right over a joist where two 22mm pipes from the boiler run right next to it.

Having sat and looked despondently at it for a while, I video called the F-I-L, who is a bit of a handyman, and he laughed and confirmed my opinion of the situation succinctly with the comment, 'You're a bit fucked there son'.

Pondering my options, I could take the floor up and reroute the waste, no doubt encountering various joists and pipes, or I could go the lazy route and see if the plumber's merchant will take back the shower tray for a raised one. I don't particularly like raised shower trays, but it's only for the Gremlinette, so I'm kinda coming round to them. :)

I'm working my way through some rather strange services installations. Odd, some of the house has been thought through to the nth, other parts have been flung together.

The shower tray where you can't get to the trap to clean it isn't high on the list of fun.

If I could find one, I would. Plumbers are like unicorns so either try to take the piss (see my earlier posts - 30k nigh-on for a bathroom refresh) or sayvthey can take a look some time in the next millennium.

Ok, I was one (briefly) but it was too annoying.

Anyway, one of the Mini-jawas got a taxi from Belfast with a friend and the driver fell asleep at the wheel and banged a kerb, cops were actually following him because he was all over the road and it turned out that he had been driving for something like 19 hours straight.

I have a tacho in my truck and the coaches I've driven and it boils my pish that taxis don't have set drivers hours either. Judging by the standard of taxi driving in this country, half of them must be dead on their feet.

And no, I don't appreciate getting hauled out of bed at 2am to drive from Ballymena to Holywood to get the girls home.

Rant over.
Bloody hell. Hope the girls were ok.

I have often wondered about that as I regularly drive over 8 hours on a weekend day and am usually out (even if not driving) for over 12 hours. But I also know my limits and so am quite careful what I do either side of the weekend and the only thing I really fail at is adequate food and water.

But I do think there should be more than working hours guidelines for drivers of smaller vehicles that are used for transporting customers.

I did learn the driving hours a few years ago when I did the CPC and transport manager courses - looks like I’ll be doing them again but in French (well, the CPC, not the manager one) so it’ll be good to get a refresh - and also to drive something with regulated hours!!!

It is really quite scary how little regulation there is for a driver with passengers if the vehicle isn’t HGV

I do that a lot. But mostly cos I have a pair of dark glasses I use as a hairband - and then use other glasses for driving/sun glasses in resort 🤣🤣🤣
