I'd say WTF don't people actually look at the road the satnav is suggesting and make the extra decision as to whether to trust it or not - but I've seen too many photos of cars that have followed sat nave that doesn't realise a lot of roads are pistes (or just inaccessible) in the winter

TBF it always has the pavement in front but you could still drive over it with caution to get down the lane. It was the stage door for the Playhouse but of late it was more just for delivery's. then with no warning its not got stairs. I checked this morning with my sat nav what also routed me down that street :D

During their lives men have a 50% chance of being diagnosed with cancer.

Mmmm, am I right in thinking that you are saying that as a man, I either will get diagnosed with cancer or I won't get diagnosed with cancer?
That's a strange way of reading it. I took it to mean that out of a random sample of, say, a million men, half a million will be diagnosed with cancer.

It's called ambiguity.

Statistics are meaningless (or can have many interpretations) when not put into context.

According to the NHS, 1 in 2 people will get some form of cancer in their lifetime.
According to what Hull's chief anatomical pathologist told me several years ago, more people die with cancer than from it, and many don't know they have it, with it being picked up at post mortem. Tests for cancer are better these days but if you don't know you're ill, you probably don't get a test.

Needs a bit more data. Does the 1 in 2 include non-melanoma skin cancers? (Most major stats metrics don't, but if you want to beef up the numbers....).

Ok for Hell’s Angels, thanks, but I forgot about sharks. Avoid sharks.

Edit: don’t they come under the Fatal Accidents umbrella?

I'd get rid of that umbrella if I were you.
