Six Nations time again

Post by Noggin »

Well, I'm not able to watch my most important game in English tonight, but I'm getting the gist!!

So - predictions for the winner or is it too early?

I'm really hoping that Ireland keep it going and actually win the opener!

Would be amazing if Italy beat England and if Scotland beat Wales - I suspect the first won't happen but the second could :D

Not sure I'll see much of tomorrow's matches in any language, so might have to see if I can find the commentary on french radio tomorrow!!

Ireland to win overall :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

My local Majestic wine shop had a Six Nations themed 'wine off' yesterday.

A really nice Italian pinot noir from the Alto Adige, ripe with bursting fruit and soft tannins vs. an English pinot noir that was...well it was in a bottle and that's about all I can say positive about it.....

Fuck me, I hope we do better in the rugby.

What did they have for Wales Vs Scotland?

Anyways, Wales almost came back from 27-0. Hell of a game with one point in it.

If wales play like they did in the second half they will beat England by a score, beat France by a couple of scores and demolish Italy. Nobody is going to beat the bogtrotters this year though. God I hate the fucking Irish

We didn't. We won, but Italy played better rugby.

I was pretty gutted to miss both those matches!! Bloody awesome of Scotland. I guess Wales just forgot to turn up for the first half? Is this going to be a theme for the tournament? Or are they going to get it together? (I kinda hope they don't TBH*)

England Italy, I was so so hoping that Italy might win but thought it was a really faint hope - so near and yet so far as is said :( :( But Damn it just shows how far Italy have come in the last few years (or has England slipped that much??)

*I've always been a fan of Scotland - the joys of having both Scottish and Irish grandmothers!! And I've never cheered for Wales. So, I'd probably have had heart failure watching the second half!!! But am so so pleased for the result :) Now if Italy can keep going strong, I could have my top 3 :D :D (I know, unlikely :D )

I think by the end of the tournament you will be seeing a very different England game. They played more attacking rugby, they’ve been called for no attack, but the big difference will be their defence.
They let Italy in for 3 tries, but it’s their first match under a new defence coach playing a new system of rush defence like South Africa have been playing, give it a bit of time to gel and they will be very hard to play attacking rugby against.

Will be interesting to see. I haven't enjoyed watching the England game for a lot of years (I know I don't cheer for them, but I enjoy watching good rugby and appreciate it whoever the team is), so would be good to see a much better game this year (bloody hope they don't beat Ireland and France tho!!)

To me they still looked like the England I know (and hate). Big fat blokes trying to run over the opposition. umpteen phases of play, with slow ball for most, and the few quick ones wasted as the first receiver goes head down into the defence. Emphasis on being huge rather than quick and skillful.
