With the Mille it is the R’s that come with Ohlins as standard, SP had Ohlins as well but it was purely a homologation special a bit like the M for the S1000RR that had a short stroke motor.

The zx6r is now on ebay so fingers crossed I can start making progress on the RSV

My username comes from having owned several RSV-R's BITD and also having a side hustle buying RSV-r's and breaking them as there was a demand for the R parts (Ohlins, Oz, carbon bodywork etc.) from standard RSV owners and the rest of the parts from all folks.

My first Mille (poverty spec, non-R) had Duke 996 forks fitted.

Sorry, only just seen this thread.

Feel free to PM me, I'll help as much as I can. I've had a couple, I know enough about them to get by. Crucially I'm lucky enough that Griff (of AP Workshops fame) is a friend and though I am certain most of what he has taught me hasn't stuck, some of it certainly has...

Nice bike BTW. Early Gen1 with the larger steel tank by the looks of it. Getting rarer and rarer and more desirable!

Progress has been slow but steady and mostly amassing parts of ebay.

Mines missing the exhaust shield / fairing mount as they all seem to. Previous owner had drilled the fairing to fit a metal bar instead :roll: got a second hand one with a hefty burn on its way. It'll do until something better and affordable arrives.

Does anyone know whether the subframe was painted or brush finished or equivalent ?

Subframe is looking scruffy don't want to powder coat if I can replicate the correct finish with Scotchbrite

Best thing to do @BBB , much as most of us don't like social media, is to get into all the relevant Aprilia facebook groups on Facebook. Griff frequents most of them, but there's a handful of genuinely knowledgable guys policing them too. The "AP Workshops" own one is the best unsurprisingly. There's a lot of knowledge out there, much more than I can impart, but it's mostly all on facebook now annoyingly...

There's also Apriliaforum.com, which is primarily Septic-based but has a lot of good historical information on the Rotax V60-based bikes as well as more modern stuff. And if you speak German, there's also Apriliaforum.net...
