Last time out on the Zuki for a couple of months.
The tax runs out today so I've SORN'd it,I'll give it a good service whilst it's parked up.I managed to get home just before the rain came in,hopefully the weather will be better in April.
Triumph's back on the road tomorrow

I'm sure my Dad's 2007 Fazer is still on it's original battery, he keeps waiting for it to die but it keeps soldiering on so far.The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 6:08 pmMy 2009 Yamaha is still on the OE battery. I've been expecting it to fail for the last five years... that's why a Shido is sitting on the shelf.

I did but as the tax runs out tonight & I've lots of other stuff going on I decided to SORN it for a couple of months & nip out on the Triumph if we get the occasional good day, also the Triumph's 12K service is booked in mid Feb,so I want to get it back on the road & make sure it's running without any faults before it's service.

I know it sounds daft, but the way I see it,I'm hoping it's just going to be a 'routine' service as opposed to fault finding & service.
If I take the bike for a couple of runs beforehand I'll be happy that all appears to be good with the bike.

12k miles ought not to be anything other than oil & filter.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 8:33 pm I did but as the tax runs out tonight & I've lots of other stuff going on I decided to SORN it for a couple of months & nip out on the Triumph if we get the occasional good day, also the Triumph's 12K service is booked in mid Feb,so I want to get it back on the road & make sure it's running without any faults before it's service.

You're in for a shock if you ever own a Triumph.Valve clearances, suspension linkages greased lots of other stuff. It's expensive .ZRX61 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 4:43 am12k miles ought not to be anything other than oil & filter.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 8:33 pm I did but as the tax runs out tonight & I've lots of other stuff going on I decided to SORN it for a couple of months & nip out on the Triumph if we get the occasional good day, also the Triumph's 12K service is booked in mid Feb,so I want to get it back on the road & make sure it's running without any faults before it's service.

Shirley you cannot be serious... Engine oil & filter would need changing at a minimum at half that distance, and preferably sooner. 12k on most bikes is a major service, valve clearances, brake/clutch fluid change etc. etc.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
My 10R had nothing but oil and filter,a bit of grease and fluids for 30k miles. When the valve clearances were checked for the first time at 34k they were still in spec. I'd expect that from a modern Japanese bike.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 10:28 amShirley you cannot be serious... Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
I'd say that's pretty trusting of you to do 34k miles without even checking valve clearances. I wouldn't run a bike, even a modern Jap one, for 34k without at least checking valve clearances at 12k intervals. I might leave it a bit longer if I was racking up big mileages on a regular basis, but I haven't done that for well over 20 years.Skub wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 10:46 amMy 10R had nothing but oil and filter,a bit of grease and fluids for 30k miles. But props to the big K - they do make very strong motors.

Over 20k on the Zed now and all it's had is oil & filter and tyres. I'll probably have to change the front pads sometime soon.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 11:01 am

I didn't say it would be the first oil & filter change. I'm only familiar with Kaw needs.. which on my 123,232 mile ZRX11mangocrazy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 10:28 am Shirley you cannot be serious... has been bugger all.
Kaw's stop needing shims changing after about 50-60k miles. My ZRX11 hasn't needed any changing for over a decade (50+k miles).mangocrazy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 11:01 am I'd say that's pretty trusting of you to do 34k miles without even checking valve clearances. Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
I woke the Triumph up from it's Winter hibernation & went for a spin
Had a chat with one of my mate's who amongst other bike's runs a KTM 690,he told me his mate is buying a Voge 300 & they're doing some Green laning. On my way home I thought 'the evenings are getting lighter, then I realised the clock was still set to BST

Weather was actually pretty decent today, fairly bright and 13c. Shorts weather.

Outside of sport, there is no valid reason why a fully grown man should wear shorts.
Fact.

I've got about 15 pairs of shorts. Only 1 pair of jeans.
Shorts every day of the year here.

For once, I agree with Yozzer....I hate long trousers, even in Wales up a mountain I wore shorts all year, still do here in Worle.
