I don't see the point of owning a Street Triple and a KTM 690, the 690 does the same job as the Triple but slower, just ride the Triple slower, if you're going to get a second bike buy something that does a different job.

On that basis you could argue that any bike does the same job so just buy any random bike and be happy. 'The job' is to get you from A to B on two wheels.

There is a lot of truth in that. IMO if I had a Street Triple I wouldn't buy a 690 as a 2nd bike or Vice Versa. There's a lot of cross over with the GSXS IMO as well which is another reason I couldn't justify both.

It all depends on how you view this stuff (obvs...) For me the engine is the major differentiating factor between bikes, and a big single gives the bike a totally different feel to an inline triple or four. OK, they're both nakeds but the character of the two bikes are miles apart.

What I haven't had is an adventure bike but to be fair, I've done more adv riding on a Street Triple than a lot of adv riders have done on their adv bikes. I like the look of the new Himalayan kitted out with hard luggage.

Only rode 1 Adv bike, a 790 Adventure and I preferred my 690 Duke. I've hankered after a 1090/1190/1290 though.

Or them Voge's look like they could be a great green lane bike judging by owner reviews.

I had one those, it was fucking mental. After a test ride on the road, I bought it for green laning, big mistake. It was only ever happy at full throttle and whilst easy to use on the road was way above my skill level off road. I kept it for a couple of months but after the first ride I was obviously way out my depth with it. Nice bike though.

I thought the 200s were nice, fast enough to be fun, but not a handful, admitably you have to attack everything with a certain degree of agression, but it is a race bike.

I thought the 200s were nice, fast enough to be fun, but not a handful, admitably you have to attack everything with a certain degree of agression, but it is a race bike.

Years ago I met up with VD'ers Mad Roy and Papercup on a freezing morning in Essex. Roy had an EXC520 and Papercup a EXC300. Had a go on the 300, which was fitted with a Rekluse auto clutch. It was on enduro wheels and tyres, and just kept spinning up under hard acceleration. It was bit of a handful and I still haven't forgotten it.

As for Street Triples, I rode my mates 2018 765 back to back with my 2008 675. The 675 was smoother, was no slower in acceleration and felt better screwed together. Put me off of ever buying a 765.

I did the Picos twice on my Street (albeit the older 675 version), and it was bloody brilliant (hence the second trip ). You'll have miles of fun.
But if you want to try a KTM, do it - it's easy to overthink these things, but there's nothing to stop you selling it again and buying another Striple later

This is my fourth Street. I had the 2009 675 standard version and did 63k on it with no issues. I then had the 2012R 675 and did 45k on it with no issues and then had a 2019RS 765 which had two new clutches and a set of cams under the 2 year warranty. I then chopped that in for a Speed Twin and did the Picos on that last year. I spent the whole trip thinking "This would be better on a Street Triple".
