That's a bit like cleaning the house before the cleaner arrives.
I know it sounds daft, but the way I see it,I'm hoping it's just going to be a 'routine' service as opposed to fault finding & service.
If I take the bike for a couple of runs beforehand I'll be happy that all appears to be good with the bike.

12k miles ought not to be anything other than oil & filter.

You're in for a shock if you ever own a Triumph.Valve clearances, suspension linkages greased lots of other stuff. It's expensive .

On Triumph forum's people are paying more than that.Have a Google

Shirley you cannot be serious... Engine oil & filter would need changing at a minimum at half that distance, and preferably sooner. 12k on most bikes is a major service, valve clearances, brake/clutch fluid change etc. etc.

My 10R had nothing but oil and filter,a bit of grease and fluids for 30k miles. When the valve clearances were checked for the first time at 34k they were still in spec. I'd expect that from a modern Japanese bike.

I'd say that's pretty trusting of you to do 34k miles without even checking valve clearances. I wouldn't run a bike, even a modern Jap one, for 34k without at least checking valve clearances at 12k intervals. I might leave it a bit longer if I was racking up big mileages on a regular basis, but I haven't done that for well over 20 years.

But props to the big K - they do make very strong motors.

Over 20k on the Zed now and all it's had is oil & filter and tyres. I'll probably have to change the front pads sometime soon.

I didn't say it would be the first oil & filter change. I'm only familiar with Kaw needs.. which on my 123,232 mile ZRX11
has been bugger all.

Kaw's stop needing shims changing after about 50-60k miles. My ZRX11 hasn't needed any changing for over a decade (50+k miles).

Had a chat with one of my mate's who amongst other bike's runs a KTM 690,he told me his mate is buying a Voge 300 & they're doing some Green laning. On my way home I thought 'the evenings are getting lighter, then I realised the clock was still set to BST

Outside of sport, there is no valid reason why a fully grown man should wear shorts.

Fact.

I've got about 15 pairs of shorts. Only 1 pair of jeans.
Shorts every day of the year here.

For once, I agree with Yozzer....I hate long trousers, even in Wales up a mountain I wore shorts all year, still do here in Worle.

Nipped out for a quick coffee at the oily rag.
I was wondering why the average age of everyone there was 50+, then caught a glimpse of myself in the window!

Paddy taking his driving test..

Examiner asks "What does a yellow line mean?"

Paddy says " No parking at all"

Examiner asks same about double yellows

Paddy says "No parking at all, at all"
