Finished watching it last night. Like all the Coben stuff but thought that was let down by a lame ending...

Finished Series 2 of 'The Tourist' on iPlayer. Excellent. Funny, dark etc, set in Oirland (1st was in Oz) with crim families, dodgy Garda etc etc. Worth watching Series 1 first though.Count Steer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 3:48 pm Started watching Series 2 of 'The Tourist' on the Beeb. Enjoyed Series 1. 2 episodes in, it's a bit 'Twin Peaks' in some ways but it's getting motoring. Probably helps if you've seen Series 1.

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
Yesterday I randomly watched the first episode of a series from 2012 I'd never heard of. I don't think it was shown in the UK. Just a random pick on Disney Plus. I ended up binge watching the whole first series in one sitting.
Don't tell anyone, but I really enjoyed it and I've now got a bit of a crush on Krysten Ritter.

Uncle Frank. We love a road trip film so bunged it on. Turned out to be about a guy how hid his homosexuality from his southern family, but eventually it comes out. Poignant yet funny with a good effort from the cast. Lead was Paul Bettany who i thought was Lawrence Fox. Anyone ever seen them in a room together at the same time?

Watching the Gladiators remake on BBC iPlayer. The original was required tea time viewing when I was a kid, along with Big Break and The Crystal Maze.
Remake is as cheesy as the old one. . Gladiators are nicer though. And Wolf isn't in it

Columbo
The six Million Dollar Man
The original Captain Scarlet
Knight Rider
Original Frasier
Forgot how cheesy Knight Rider was but it’s still amusing.

Masters of the Air just started on Apple TV.
It's the spiritual successor to Band of Brothers/Pacific but set around the US B-17 bomber division in based in the UK.
Seems quite good so far but still can't resist that Spielberg/Hanks quirk of having the English be twats.

What Did Jack Do? on Netflix.
17 minutes (I managed four minutes before turning off) of David Lynch being self-indulgent in black and white with an amateurish special effect monkey.
Does there cone a point when you are considered famous and quirky enough to be given carte blanche to produce nonsense?

What? The latest one, set in Oirland? I enjoyed it (and the first one).
(You'll be delighted to know there'll be a 3rd, set in Amsterdam ).

My wife's mates said this was really good, so we stuck with it. I made a half hour in and then bailed. My wife's mates say we should have stuck with it. Anyone else seen this? I found it really hard work. Should i have stuck with it?

Watched the first part of Dune on Netflix.
S'alright, but God it's a bit pretentious and has delusions of being a great and seminal event, rather than just a sci-fi yarn.
Plus, given the volume of background noise, the central characters kept talking in inaudible whispers. I think I missed most of Rebecca Ferguson's lines.

Has John Byrne's Tutti Frutti been mentioned? A search didn't find it.

Re: Box Sets, Mini series, films, etc.
Last night we watched first episode of Sneaky Pete. Quite good first impression, but wonder if 4 series might be too much.
Seems ideal for just a 4 parter.
We'll see.
