There's plenty of them left, mostly on, or near WWII airfields.

I've never been so close to running out of fuel as I was at that spot. Spent the last 10k trying to think of how I could spin the pleasures of sleeping by the roadside to Mrs W. Lesson to all: NZ has big distances between fuel stations, and they close at 5 or 6 pm.....

Different point: that's a UK bike - did you ride it there, or ship it?

I’m with a mate who has done the Camper Van tour 10 years previously. So he knew what to expect.
I personally try to fill up at my convenience, usually half a tank full whether I need to or not.
10 minutes after that photo someone up there ^ opened the Taps. It was like riding through a Carwash but with extra wind.
Didn’t make it to our intended destination and bailed out at Darfield at got us a Room for the night.
Yes. Shipped from Tilbury to Auckland. About 10 weeks.

I don’t know if you’ve been to the Sounds area yet, but we have (/had from lots of years ago) a wonderful b and b contact in Te Anau, with several bikes including a Black Prince…

Let me know if you’re interested.

Loved NZ. In 1995 I spent 7 weeks riding around the South Island, and one week in the North. Even a rented Suzuki VX800 could not detract from the beauty of the country.

I think you get an extra point for the old hippy business in the hut. (Must be old, nobody young would think calling their business after something in Lord of the Rings was 'cool'. )

(I'll let Rohan off 'cos they did it 1972 and it's too late to change it now  ).

Here you go.

Easy done.

Next…… your bike next to a 5 star hotel.

None of you lot have posh hotels, then? The closest one to me is in Belfast and I'm not wasting a run on the bike to go there. :P
