I have a similar plan. I want a Buccaneer for static display. In fact I just want lots of land to put a load of cold war British jets on... or I might try and buy Newark Air Museum.

Hunters still flying here with a defense contractor. Sometimes there are 3 buzzing around.

There's privately owned aggressor squadron (that contracts to the MOD) still flying hunters in the UK.

The best sounding jet aircraft ever made.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 9:58 pmThere's privately owned aggressor squadron (that contracts to the MOD) still flying hunters in the UK.
Also the aircraft that caused my mother to fall off her bicycle, whereas a C130 pushed me off a bicycle.

I do include the Vulcan, growing up near RAF Wattisham means I heard lots of Cold War jets, Hunter has a lovely howl to it.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 10:49 pmIf you don't include the Vulcan.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 10:46 pmThe best sounding jet aircraft ever made.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 9:58 pm

I grew up next to RAF Finningley.
Best (military) Air Show in Europe (during the 80/90's).
The septic's once tried to land a KC135 on my house. That made a lot of noise when it realised it was about to land on the highstreet rather than the runway.

ISTR the generic howl of a diving aircraft in Thunderbirds is actually a Hunter. That's what my Dad always told me anyway.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 10:51 pmI do include the Vulcan, growing up near RAF Wattisham means I heard lots of Cold War jets, Hunter has a lovely howl to it.

Re: £201 million jackpot on the Euromillions tonight!
I 'invested' yesterday, just a random thing as I was at the kiosk getting a Costa cup* Didn't realise it's £2.50 a go! until they told me how much I had to pay. If I've won I may go quiet for a while.
* There's a machine (which actually produces a better coffee than the current barista in the Costa shop). You used to get a coffee at the machine and pay at the kiosk. Sounds like lots just walked out the door. They've also put razor blades and spirits in a locked cabinet that you have to get someone to open. Strange times.

I got blown off my bike by a Supermarine Scimitar when he aborted a landing at Culdrose.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 10:46 pmThe best sounding jet aircraft ever made.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 9:58 pmThere's privately owned aggressor squadron (that contracts to the MOD) still flying hunters in the UK.

I've won 3 times in the last week!
£140, £4.20 and £2.80 - don't think I'll be retiring yet though.
