Can we avoid references to nobs at this rather delicate time, please?Count Steer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 10:11 amOops! I was intending it as a response to Noggin who mentioned relearning cribbage.Pirahna wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:44 amThat's cribbage.Count Steer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:36 am
I was in a similar situation but once I sat down with a bunch of players it all came back v quickly.
15-2, 15-4 and one for his nob*.

This isn't a bad guide. Once you get going it'll come back to you.

Re: What have you done today thread?
10 years ago during one of the trips here in my camper, I met a lovely couple from Nottingham. Stayed great pals and they come twice a year.
Having a few beers last night. They know I walk past their beach front hotel each morning so they said they'd meet me on the beach front with a plate of fleshly cooked English bacon and sausage. They bring loads over each visit.
Was so nice eating awesome brekky on the beach. They even brought brown sauce

Reading the news about this fella: BBC News - West Midlands fire chief investigated over social media claims - BBC News

I'm 99% sure this is (tragically was, as he took his own life yesterday) one of my old school mates. Never really kept in touch, but he was a nice lad.

I was on a course with F&R, Ambo and Police, all West Mids, on Tuesday. It was mentioned that he may call in to say hello, but he didn’t. No one was aware at the time. Sad loss from what I’ve been told.gremlin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 1:32 pm Reading the news about this fella: BBC News - West Midlands fire chief investigated over social media claims - BBC News

Re: What have you done today thread?
Paid my first ever PCN. Grudgingly and after much time wasting. I whined them down from £100 to £20, if I'd whined further I could probably have got it cancelled but I'll be away for a bit and CBA dealing with it. I reckon Parkingeye haven't made a profit which is good enough for me. And I'm pretty certain I got £20 of bile out out of my system over Christmas.
And Booths, on who's behalf the ticket was issued, can go take a running jump. A friend and myself spent over £200, probably nearer £300, and the only response I got from my email to Booths head office was 'Very nice, it's in the terms and conditions, now go away. Said friend is disabled, both mentally and physically, so shopping isn't something done quickly. I was c20 minutes over their 2 hour limit.
Tl;dr. Booths, the Good Grocers, family owned etc, are a shower of contemptibles..

My FiL bought one of the last 2.0 Derv Tuscons just as they were phasing them out (he needed to tow large tailers and didn't think the hybrid was up to it), it's a 21 or 22 iirc. Surprising amount of toys and clever little features. Quite premium inside too.
Well they do say Hyundai is the premium arm of Kia.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Went for coffee and chat at my favourite place. Then eventually put on skis and went out over lunch (hoping to avoid the too peopley thing!) - it was nice and quiet but damn it's way too warm Slushy over the other side, so I came back over to my side. Snow was definitely better, but there was a lot of ice, some of it pretty glassy. I'm ok on ice (the season I learnt to ski we didn't have snow after the 12th January, so I basically learnt to ski on ice!!), but nowadays I'm a bit more scared as a bad fall on ice could mess up my shoulder.
So, I only did three runs - between the ice and my lack of fitness (two weeks of lurgy has taken more of a toll than I expected) that was enough! Went back to the favourite place for coffee and a sandwich
Then physio - much laughter (although, much pain too!! )
Got home to find messages letting me know that two of my mates had accidents today - one has a suspected injury to her ACL (have told her to try and only use one stick as she's still recovering from a nasty wrist break from last season) and the other was very lucky in that there is no damage to the knee she damaged last year, but she has got a cut to her face and will have some bruising tomorrow
Think I was pretty right to quit after one decent slip but no falls!!
Then I watched the sun set colours on Mont Blanc -

Re: What have you done today thread?
Got woken at 1am by the nurse to take blood pressure and sats.
Got woken by the nurse again at 3am to take blood pressure and sats
Got woken by the nurse at 4am only to be asked, 'Would you like anything?'
My first instinct was to reply, 'Yes, I'd like to be asleep at 4am in the morning!', but I meekly replied 'No thank you'
Woken again at 5am for blood pressure and sats.
Then at 6am had the fattest catheter tube you've ever seen removed from my bellend. My eyes have only just stopped watering. Turned down the offer of a giant nappy. Need to have a piss au naturale else another catheter is being shoved up there. Currently drinking a fsir bit of water.
