I can feed the 16mm chain through teh spokes so am happy with that now. Trouble with D-Locks is they don't stop them lifting the wheel and wheeling it away. Much better to lock the bike to something.

He's saying to use the D lock to enable you to use the bigger linked chain.

Out of interest, why through the spokes and not through the forks as you've done ?

If through to spokes, they have to remove the wheel and then they lose wheel..
If through forks, they have to remove the wheel but then keep the wheel...

Does it really matter either way ?

No-one is coming in broad daylight and removing a wheel either way IMO.

Ahh right, sorry Hoss. Sold the bigger linked Almax now though. Quite happy to use a 16mm until it goes... :?

Some of the vids showing bike thefts,broad daylight doesn't appear to be a deterrent. They rock up in a gang and folk mind their own business.

They literally do no care. The Met Police (probably) wont respond to a bike theft in action call and haven't here multiple times. Scroats know this and just carry on and the public are unlikely to risk injury if they were to intervene.

Remember that guy who did the cleaning job for you? Perhaps you need the opposite.

Paint on scratches and scuffs. Paint on 'rust', etc. Cover with clagg and dirt.

Make it look as awful as possible.

Might put the scrotes off a bit.
Even bland can be a type of character :wave:

It's anywhere with a good selection of bike parking bays, but London isn't the worse, its actually 9th...

Some info on bike thefts...

Motorbike models from Honda and Yamaha were found to be the most stolen in the UK in the last year, according to new data.

In the UK between June 2022 and May 2023, there were 18,361 motorcycles registered as stolen to the DVLA by police.

To find out which models were stolen most frequently, a Freedom of Information Request was submitted to the DVLA by the finance company Anglo Scottish.

Here's which exact motorbike brands were stolen the most in the UK during the period between June 2022 and May 2023.

Top 10 stolen motorbike models in the UK in the last year
According to the analysis of the DVLA data from Anglo Scottish, the top 10 most stolen motorbikes in the UK were:

1. Yamaha GPD125-A NMAX 125 ABS = 512

2. Honda WW 125-A = 450

3. Honda WW 125 EXH2-H = 306

3= Yamaha YBR 125 = 306

5. Honda NSC 110 E-E = 293

6. Honda NSC 110 MPDH = 235

Anglo Scottish commented: "Whilst Honda is renowned for its powerful, reliable engines, Yamaha motorcycles are known for their sharp handling, making them a cult favourite for many riders.

"However, many of the bikes listed on the most-stolen rankings during this time are not the supercharged, modified or rare vehicles you might expect.

"In fact, all of the most-stolen bikes on this list are “commuter scooters” with engines of 125cc or under!"

The motorbike theft dataset also included information on which UK cities have reported the highest number of stolen bikes over the last 12 months.

Cambridge topped the list here with a rate of 99 bikes stolen per 100,000 people, with Southampton in second at a rate of 82 per 100,000 people.

London came ninth on the list overall with 33 per 100,000 people, despite having the most in total at 2,975 in pure figures.

In comparison, Cambridge had 157 and Southampton had 203 but had a higher rate due to their populations being far smaller.

I was recently told that since the Police introduced tactical stopping (ramming), "moped" crime and bike theft has reduced, but not seen any stats to back it up?

Yup, your motorcycle is far more likely to get stolen in Cambridge than London, it's a vehicle crime hot spot.

I assumed the jump to maxi scoots were they were faster for evading Dibble and had more power to push stolen Ducatis away? But the stats do seem to highlight small bikes are more vulnerable? TF I didnt get that SH300! :lol:

I"d imagine that they're
a) the type of thing to be left parked with little to no extra security, and
b) they have very cheap (if any) built in security, and are
c) bought by people who aren't going to be able to afford an extra £300 for a decent chain & lock.

Therefore very very easy to steal and joy-ride on, or use for some other bit of criminality, or sell on again down the local pub.

13-litre tank, so not much margin for error, but nice to know I can go to work and back 3 times before filling up again. c£5.50 a day fuel costs to central London is pretty damn good for a 750 too! :thumbup:

Finally adjusted the wing mirror today. The stalk was just too far forward so you couldn’t pull the mirror back to get a proper view behind. I think Schwarzenegger must have tightened the bastard bolts up and that’s probably why it’d had been left unadjusted. Amazing how something so trivial can make such a difference!

The bike has Bridgestone Trailwings on and they are shit at everything. Useless at grip on the grass and so flat profiled you have to heave the bike over. I think it’ll get some more road bias tyres soon, but there is still quite some life left in the trailwings… :think:

Tyres aside the bike is brilliant. Properly brilliant. So smooth and I think the only bike I’ve owned that I get no numb fingers from! 70+ mpg! Various places to put your feet! Under seat storage for your lid. Good weather protection! The hits just keep coming! :thumbup:
