Hopefully the will have the thought to introduce this over here in the UK too soon. They are a menace around here, so are mopeds to.
AFAIK it's already the law here! Only the ones you hire with an app are legal to use on public roads/paths and you have to have a licence to get the app to work.

In theory. ;)

They don't have any way of identifying the scooter/bike itself though. We all know some parents just let the kids use their details and card etc which is why physical identifications needs to be in place too, just like on cars and motorbikes.

Wow, Jo Phoenix has won her case against the Open University! Contributed to the crowd funding of her case. 8-)

https://unherd.com/thepost/jo-phoenix-w ... cal-views/
A gender-critical academic has won her case against the Open University. In a significant victory for academic freedom, an employment tribunal has concluded that Professor Jo Phoenix suffered discrimination, harassment and was constructively dismissed by the OU. Crucially, the tribunal found that the university failed to protect Phoenix out of “fear of being seen to support gender-critical beliefs”.

The 155-page judgment, which was published on Monday afternoon, found that colleagues compared Phoenix to a “racist uncle”. They also posted statements on the OU’s website claiming gender-critical beliefs fostered an environment which endangered the lives of trans people. More than 380 academics signed a public letter calling on the OU to close down Phoenix’s research group.
Jo Phoenix's assertions wrote: - Biological sex is real and important.
- A person cannot change their biological sex*.
- Biological sex should not be confused with gender identity.
- There are situations where biological sex is more important than gender identity, especially concerning the safety of women, such as in the context of housing male individuals in female prisons.
The government can put the gender vs sex issue, which so many either do not understand or knowingly conflate, by passing a law that states that when the word "sex" is used in any legislation it is to mean "biological sex".

* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_di ... _in_humans
Most mammals, including humans, have an XY sex-determination system: the Y chromosome carries factors responsible for triggering male development. In the absence of a Y chromosome, the fetus will undergo female development. This is because of the presence of the sex-determining region of the Y chromosome, also known as the SRY gene.[5] Thus, male mammals typically have an X and a Y chromosome (XY), while female mammals typically have two X chromosomes (XX).

Chromosomal sex is determined at the time of fertilization; a chromosome from the sperm cell, either X or Y, fuses with the X chromosome in the egg cell.

I saw some poor bugger on Sunday riding a traditional Vespa looking contraption on the freeway as I was headed home. He was riding within a few inches of shoulder & appeared to be flat out at about 50mph. He did look very stylish though.

All the 2 wheeled warriors here (that's how they are known here in Bristol) just seem to do what they want. It was mainly bicycles and scooters but now even mopeds and some larger motorbikes seem to be following the flock now. One goes through a red light they all follow etc etc.

Going through red lights, filtering at 30mph in rush hour traffic almost taking off peoples wing mirrors, pulling out straight in front of you at junctions etc etc etc.

I've almost got to my wits end with them and almost just carry on now. I honestly don't care if i took one of them out, i'd just carry on with my day like nothing had happened, unless there was damage on my car after hitting them, then i'd order them the money for repairs to the car or face full rage from the beast within!

Yes, Bristol is that way, WSM is going that way (saw a yoof on a trail bike cross the main rd into Weston, no hemet or plates, and carry on down the footpath onto a cycle track). But I am not sure how your solution is going to work out.....

A few months ago I asked a P.C. on foot (yes, we still have the odd one) what they are doing about illegal scopoters etc...he said they issue a warning and then confiscate but were waiting for new legislation.

Hmmm.....

Hmmm.....
In reality they do fuck all.

The only resolve, without making myself sound too much of a brain dead thug is the fist and the boot.

I have posted on here many times about the issues i had with a group of young adults in their late teens early 20's stealing scrambles/mopeds etc and bringing them back to the estate and around my flats. They would ride them up and down doing wheelies pretty much 4-5 days a week.

My neighbour had called the police about 9 times over a space of about a year or maybe longer and not once did they find any sort of resolve, or even give any impression that they wanted to. I think they turned up twice to the reports and we would meet them, they would wind down their window and just say "sorry, we can't catch them as they don't have plates and we are not allowed to pursue them due to danger to risk of life" or something along those lines.

We mentioned to them that if they just sat in an unmarked car for 30 mins they would appear and we could grab them and they could be arrested but they almost laughed at us when this was mentioned moaning about not having the resources. They had enough resources though to send about 15 people to stand around all day to shut down a cannabis factory who had about 3 plants in though, but that was a nice easy tick in the box for them right!

It came to a loggerhead when one of them stole a 250 scrambler and proceeded to ride it into most of the neighbours gardens and spin up his back wheel destroying most of the garden and on this occasion spinning all of my little shared garden all up the side of the flats, the night before he also knocked down my neighbours 3 year old kid in the local park. The c.unt in question came back the next morning to do the same, boasting at the top of his voice to his mates what he had done. I was off work sick and just about recovered so was home and it was summer and i had the windows open so i could here the convo, that was it for me, i lost the plot walked over to them and just started battering the main guy on the scrambler, there were about 6 of them and i was ready for a proper ruck but they all ran off by the time i could turn around and the scrambler guy had had enough by the time i tried to take off his helmet and rode off. I then took myself around to the house of one of the other group leaders to introduce my rage to his dad, who had about 3 of his mates around at the time, they did fuck all and i think i just told him to sort out his child before i do and walked back to the flat.

The guy on the scrambler was never seen again. The group of young adults never hung around by the flats again and would cross over the other side of the road if they saw me walking around lol.

The only thing some people understand is the fist and the boot. It's a sad fact but a reality when the police seemingly don't care about the community they should be policing.

That's the really stupid thing, you can't buy a machete in B&Q but you can happy buy any amount of screwdrivers, stanley knives, corrosive liquids.

FFS, you can walk into any tackle shop and buy a razor sharp filleting knife, no questions asked.

When i was a chef we would often take our knifes home. Not before stopping off for a beer or two before getting the bus home. I think if the police were to stop anyone having a legit reason to be carrying knifes they will not be to bothered unless you are acting like a cunt. Learned years ago, Dont act like a cunt to the police and they wont act like a cunt to you.
