Second bike musings

Currently have a norton Commando as a second steed, it reminds you of all the bad things about kick starters and vibey t/o but its great on a nice sunny day when you have plenty of time.1970 Roadster indeed.

I work in central London so have to commute one way or another. I can either go by public transport but its expensive (over £20 a day train ticket) and takes a lot, lot longer and of course I get very cold hanging about waiting for trains etc. Or I can ride the bike where i'll get a bit chilly but deffo have painfully cold hands when its under 5 degrees, but its door to door in around an hour. Even though I've turned 60 now its still a no brainer. Plus I get to buy several different bikes throughout the year and negate any savings with my bike buying losses!

I thought after 60 it was a UK wide thing? Here it's free travel in the North at 60,then the whole Island of Ireland from 65. I have to say I've hardly used mine,but it's nice to have the option.

In England its normally 66 with a few exceptions.

I've got a TFL one and can use it after 0900 - it can be used on all TFL services.
I have only taken the bike to work a couple of time in the last few weeks but as soon as the weather improves i'll commute a few times a week.

Oyster 60+ at, err, 60, if you live in a London borough. (I assume Taipan doesn't.) Then Freedom Pass at state retirement age. Same thing but adds local buses, countrywide, iirc.
