Adding pictures
Using my phone, where my day to day photos are, when I try to add a picture to a post, it tells me it's too large. So I re-size it, several times. It's still too large. I succeeded once, possibly on the laptop, but it was ages ago and I can't remember how I did it.
Not very techy, me. How can I do this, on my phone?

Re: Adding pictures
I use a Samsung, so Android.
With the standard picture editor:
- first, crop (the two L shapes) to focus on the important bit, removing unnecessary stuff around the outside
- 3 dots menu options, resize. Try the options to find the size that RTTL will allow

Re: Adding pictures
I use Flickr. I've set the attachment deliberately low as it just adds to the backup and storage on the back end.Wossname wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 7:20 pm Using my phone, where my day to day photos are, when I try to add a picture to a post, it tells me it's too large. If the masses want more capacity then I can increase it.
Edit
Go on then, I've increased limits
But let's be sensible guys, a camera can do pics easily at 10mb. We're then looking at sizes that would zoom in 20x and still have clarity. I can't see any reason a picture needs to be more than 1mb.

Re: Adding pictures
Not the easiest thing to do on a phone, however...
If you have a Friendface account, create a new album and set it to private so only you can see it.
Upload any photo's you want to share on here to that album, they won't appear on your FB timeline (cos they is set to private innit).
You can right click the pictures and copy the link/url to paste into the img tags on here.
Hey Presto, free image hosting.

Re: Adding pictures
Many thanks for the help, all, but - I'm now hiding under the table in shame. I don't have a FF a/c, or Flickr. I'm on a Samsung (Android)too, but the 3 dots menu doesn't give me a "resize" option. The option that sounds useful is "Open in Photo Editor Pro" but that just allows me to muck about with the pic.
I'm probably in the wrong place entirely. Or the wrong planet. It'll have to be in words of 1 syllable max.

Re: Adding pictures
If you've got an android phone chances are you have a Google Drive account... you can share pictures from there, but I've drunk to much cheap Lidl rum to type out how.

Can you not create a Flickr account or another hosting option?

I think you'll have to leave me alone for a while, so I can look into how to use Flickr. I know it as a name but that's all. TVM for help - back soon I hope!

Re: Adding pictures
I send the pics from my phone to myself via Hotmail. There's various resize options. I usually choose 10% of original size. Then all pics are accepted on here.

Re: Adding pictures
@horse : here's my options list... (Samsung A5) - no resize option.
@Yorick : I'm working on this, but can't see how to resize photos on Hotmail. I told you....

Re: Adding pictures
Like this?
That's the options from just viewing an image.
Have you selected the 'pencil' icon, to start editing? That's what I have to do to get the resize option.
Edit: just realised that you have the various editing options in your screengrab. Try selecting 'crop', the two L shapes, then try for the menu.

Re: Adding pictures
Horse - yes, those are my only options from just viewing a picture. No pencil, I'm afraid - just the "open in photo edit pro" which just allows me to fiddle with cropping, colour etc. It's a Samsung A5, which may be more basic or have different options from yours.
Weeksy: 7.88mb.
TVM both anyway.....

Re: Adding pictures
Mate, 7.88mb is a gazillion X gazillion pixels. If you printed it out full scale it'd fill your living room wall.Wossname wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 9:28 pm Horse - yes, those are my only options from just viewing a picture. Re: Adding pictures
I know, but my point is kinda that, well, I'm prepared to try and help, but there's only so much I can do.
I've doubled the allowed size, but in no way can I make them 8mb.

Re: Adding pictures
Yes, and I understand that. As H says - it's why I need to re-size. Just like everybody else seems to do quite happily. Woe is me!
What size should I be aiming for?
