I remember the first class booths being bigger than that - and with a bigger screen. Maybe time has made me forget. As you say the bathroom was something else - as were the really annoying air staff. "Would sir like to eat now?" "~erm , no, I'm okay - its a 9 hr flight, I'll eat later". And then , every 15 minutes some would ask you if you wanted to eat !!
The lounge in Dubai is also very nice - but filled with a hard to explain large no of kids.
The Dubai lounge is possibly the least good one out of all the ones I've been to, it's not bad, hence why I say "least good, ", but it's not as good as Manchester or Heathrow for example. I think it's because you can get into it just by having the right credit card and as a perk you can use the business lounge, or other perks which means basically anyone can go in, whereas you're only getting into the Manchester First or Business Class lounges if you're actually travelling at that class.

I think in general the standards have gone down all across the board in terms of travel classes, it's still decent but all those nice to have things that made it really special have gone. It's also more expensive than ever.

I used to have access to those 'special' lounges but the people in them made my skin crawl. They were always tappity tapping at their laptops, feeding their faces and making phone calls, or, as said, escorting a brood. It wasn't relaxing. Wife used to get the real deal too (to the USA usually) , Range Rover pick up from home, fast track at the airport etc. Not that she ever looked down her nose at me. No sirree.

The chauffeur service is certainly one of the best things about flying business/first class. No need to get trains or arrange transport, they’re pretty good too, always on time and reliable.

Wife used to get that too. :( Chauffeured in the usual 'S' Class at warp speed from Frankfurt to Weinheim. Not that she reminded me very often. It's a bugger when your stellar career is eclipsed by the missus.

The creek at the end of the road, it dates back to Roman times and a couple of thousand years ago it was a major port.
They do regular archaeological digs and turn up all sorts of stuff.

And our beach in town
I've never understood the allure of sitting on a beach then going for a paddle and sitting back on the beach again. I've got the beaches of the Costa Blanca a 40 minute drive away, I have no interest at all in going there. Alicante is a nice town and worth a visit and that's where it ends for me.

Yup. Apart from Xmas day, I can't remember the last time we had a day on the beach.
We often go to swim or snorkel, but never just sit on the sand

But we do often sit on the wall and take in the view
