Hope the noise isn't gnawing. A friend had 'em and they were gnawing through the wooden loft structure.
(I suggested painting the woodwork with chilli paste )
We're borrowing a humane trap (not my bloody idea) and see if we can evict it / them over the next week, if not a more permanent solution will be deployed.

Does giving them a head start while you pick the rifle count as 'releasing them into the wild'?MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 10:51 amI did not, never crossed my mind as I usually go straight for the .177 (gods caliber) solution

It would for me, I sold my rifles a few years back, by the time I've bought a new one and checked zero the bugger will be long gone.Horse wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 11:11 amDoes giving them a head start while you pick the rifle count as 'releasing them into the wild'?MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 10:51 amI did not, never crossed my mind as I usually go straight for the .177 (gods caliber) solution

Pet Insurance, Petplan premium for a 4 year old Staff, never made a claim, has gone from £550 to £671! Oh and because the vet lanced what turned out to be a spot they excluded warts, tumours and lumps from the policy! Well they can right off.
Any Pet insurance recommendations.

The advice I was given by a vet was to pay however much you'd pay for insurance every year into a saving account and use that for vet bills. You probably know this one already.MingtheMerciless wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 9:41 am Pet Insurance, Petplan premium for a 4 year old Staff, never made a claim, has gone from £550 to £671! It's worked for me so far but then I'm not that sentimental about pets, it boggles me how much people will spend on them. That's not a criticism, just an observation.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
It used to be the case that if you didn't claim, e.g. for a small bill, not much over your excess, insurers didn't pay any attention to it. Nowadays, they ask for a complete copy of the animal's vet history, and will often include any minor incident in there as justifying exclusions, possibly for life. So your little "spot" >> no cover for any skin issue, anywhere, ever. Difficult to dodge that kind of pothole now.
Some companies were much worse than others for this, but I'm too out-of-date now to advise. There's a lot to be said for the "pot on the mantlepiece" technique, but beware the unexpected VERY large bill, which is what insurance is really there for. It doesn't need much of a problem now to add up to the level of premiums quoted above.

Microsoft Office. I've had several official copies over the years, but the new laptop needs a new licence every year.
Only £50 ish, but grates a bit, just to use Word and Excel.

It was waaaay cheaper for me to buy a new door lock, with the 4 keys, than get a load of new keys cut for an existing lock. I realise that by not supporting the Timpsons Guild of Artisan Locksmiths I am therfore by default certainly supporting Far Eastern sweatshops but maybe they shouldn't be so greedy?

years ago I had all my house locks changed to Ultion high security ones and had them "keyed alike". So one keys fits all the doors. Much easier than multiple keys for your house.

They cant cut them, or couldn't, they had to be ordered direct from Ultion or an approved supplier.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:14 pmJust don't get copies cut at Timpsons, they want £29.99 a key!

When we had a new front door the fitter told us if we needed more keys to get them done by a bloke on the local industrial as he'd do them at £10 a key rather than £30 the bigger chains charged.Taipan wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:20 pmThey cant cut them, or couldn't, they had to be ordered direct from Ultion or an approved supplier.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:14 pmJust don't get copies cut at Timpsons, they want £29.99 a key!

The kids have essentially made keys a disposable item - I used to spend £9-10 a key getting replacement before I twigged that I could just replace the shole lock which came with 5 keys and cost a tenner!

What do you call a 'lock' that costs a tenner?
A door handle.
