Exel Formatting
I hate spreadsheets, I really don't like people who insist on using them to convey large amount of information, in this case multiple pages of info per cell, but I'm stuck with it, the client is always right, right?!?!?!
Anywho, the easiest way for me to deliver, that I can see, is by embedding/ inserting a word document in every cell, it's going to get messy, it's going to be very cumbersome but here I am.
Is there anyway to lock that document within the cell and stop anyone who opens the document dragging it off elsewhere in the spreadsheet?

Re: Exel Formatting
That's how Sharepoint works, horrible system.
That doesn't help you so I'll point you to the review tab on the ribbon and the 'Protect' section. You can choose which cells to lock and prevent editing.

Re: Exel Formatting
Stick your documents in OneDrive, enable sharing on each one and then copy the sharing link into the excel cell.

Re: Exel Formatting
That looked promising, but any protection I apply locks it up so the embedded document can't be opened
That's an idea, might be made tricky by not knowing everyone who needs access, but worth a lookKungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 9:33 am Stick your documents in OneDrive, enable sharing on each one and then copy the sharing link into the excel cell.

Re: Exel Formatting
IIRC you can create a link within OneDrive that allows anyone with the link to view rather than have to set permissions for users.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 9:45 amThat looked promising, but any protection I apply locks it up so the embedded document can't be opened

Re: Exel Formatting
Yeah one drive lets you do "anyone with link", "anyone within an organisation", "only the people I say"...a few other things I forget. You can also lock editing.
You can create different links to the same document, each with a different set of permissions.
AFAIK though if someone navigates to the document "organically" they can do what they like?

Re: Exel Formatting
Thanks all, going to give OneDrive approach a whirl.
Not as straight forward as letting all have access as it's locked down by our IT weenies so they'll have to give me a list of anyone that needs access, and it's their problem if it causes delays
