Boeing were lucky that the seat belt sign was still on. If this had happened in Europe where seat belt signs go off at 10,000 feet (I think?) then people would very likely have been sucked out of the aircraft.

Headlight glare...is being blamed on modern headlights being too bright. I've always thought it was just new cars that haven't had their first mot, so maybe not adjusted correctly.

Often caused by dicks who think that having their lights on main beam during the days makes them more visible, motorcyclists on 'cruisers' in particular.

Re: In todays news...
Hasn't the same argument been repeated since halogen lights were introduced, before most cars on the road today were built?

Re: In todays news...
Don't they adjust the lights when they build the cars anyway?
Adjustment is a bit 20th century anyway innit, what kind of peasant doesn't have self levelling self adjusting headlights? AFAIK it's a legal requirement for the super bright daymakers.

As a fully qualified old codger, yes LRDs are bright, but I can manage. Driving with LEDs and having oncoming LEDs is far better than driving a 6v Beetle with 36/30 watt 'headlights' and facing QI headlights.

Fascinating watching Antony Blinken trying to get a regional consensus driven Israel/Palestine peace deal.
I rate Antony Blinken. Just saying.

It's an arms race, you need brighter lights for when someone else blinds you. If everyone had 30W lights we'd manage pretty well.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 2:24 pm As a fully qualified old codger, yes LRDs are bright, but I can manage. And that is Main beam, dip is about 30.Mussels wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 9:01 pmIt's an arms race, you need brighter lights for when someone else blinds you. To rattle the CCP cage Blinken must be doing well.
