New to the country, new to the forum. Hi!
New to the country, new to the forum. Hi!
I moved to North Yorkshire from Johannesburg, South Africa a few months ago and brought my 990 Adventure with me (also brought a wife and some kids). One of my first questions on the forum will be how to get my pony on the road!
I was a very active member of the Think Bike and Wild Dogs biking forums in South Africa and am looking forward to settling in with a new crowd here.

Hey that's not terrible then is it
You'll find there's a wealth of knowledge here. Many people have known eachother for 20+ years through various forums which can make it feel cliquey at times to some newbies as everyone seems to know one another, but plenty of guys have come in too and bonded well with the locals, it all comes down to attitude and desire to join in i guess.
Hopefully you'll at the very least find the answers you want/need.

Give me hope Joanna.
Welcome in gigglz, good to see you're a real person.
A good mate had a 990 same as yours,a very tall saddle as I recall, just a bit out of my comfort zone.

Re: New to the country, new to the forum. Hi!
It's 25 years since I registered an imported second hand bike in the UK, it used to be a fairly easy process (get an MOT, get the DVLA to inspect it, get insurance and they'd send you a registration document) I suspect they've made it a lot more of a performance now.

Thanks for the welcome to those I haven't quoted.
I hear you. Cheers for the welcome.weeksy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 3:07 pm You'll find there's a wealth of knowledge here. Feeling less so with every passing day. I need a ride...
My 990 Adventure isn't too bad. The 990R is substantially taller and definitely had me out of my comfort zone.
Cheers chum.
Hah! I moved here to get away from the city. Still mission there once a week for work though so the 990 will defile your streets soon enough.
We can be gits sometimes but I can vouch for the ones who ride.
The forum was borne from a fundraising thing to safe the endangered Cape Wild Dogs. Cheesy back-story but they earned it.
Haha, I'm bloody loving it so far. Living in Johannesburg I'd have to ride an hour through the city before seeing the kind of roads we're surrounded by here.

At least you won't have to get it converted to right hand drive :p
