Happened locally to me in Kent... very loud campaigner for traffic calming in his village caught at 40+ in a 30 in the next village two miles away.

I seem to recall a chief constable who was also keen to come down hard on speeders getting caught over the limit in a 30.

And a similarly inclined police and crime commissioner from up north somewhere got done last year for a bunch of speeding offences.

Yup with speeding it's often the same not in my back yard mentality as other things. Plus some people who don't give a toss. We have a speed sign in our village and from that you'll either see the speeders or can judge fairly well silly speeds, often some of the worst turn into local roads/houses. We have one of those new cameras that catches people but sends a letter rather than a fine, unless you were doing over 50 when that letter is apparently delivered by a copper (no talk of penalty though), through the news letter one driver has clocked up multiple over 50s which is a proper piss take but not sure if any action taken.
