Mancard & Bonus / Loss Points Clarification

Post by Horse »

Am I correct in thinking that slicing a finger open on a corner of sheet metal is worthy of bonus points on one's mancard?

But I lose them for doing it while dusting :(

You're dusting in the workshop? That's a complete witdrawal of man-card for an as yet to be determined period, I'm afraid...

It's just a flesh wound. :D

Now, if you'd sliced it off, nipped to the shop to buy a strawberry Mivvi to keep the amputated bit cold while you ran 7 miles to the nearest A&E only to find they're on strike so you fixed it back on with a self-tapper and went to the pub....we can talk cards/points.

You only get points for finger injuries if its removed at the knuckle and you're too manly to bother with A&E.

As I understand it you've only lost points for not having pretended that the injury was sustained in some heroic fashion

All man injuries the only first aid you're allowed is a dirty rag and gaffer tape.

Cement to stem bleeding is also permitted.

What about Araldite instead of stiches?

Self-administered is OK, but superglue is better.

Super glue FTW  (they used a spray version in Vietnam to stick internal wounds together pending proper medical attention...how they opened the wounds to treat them I dunno, it sticks fingers together a treat).

There's a solvent that unbinds the wound.

The solvent for araldite is chloroform.

What about if you catch it in the moving table of a surface grinder so that it both breaks the bone and tears a flap of skin off so that you can see the broken bone?
At this point you pop to see the factory nurse, who wraps a bandage round it and tells you to pop up to casualty 15 miles away. Your only means to get to casualty is a 250LC, so you ride to casualty with an injured right hand that you can't get a glove on, they take the bandage off, shrug, say that it's stopped bleeding so you might as well go home.

Can't help but read the thread title like it's the name of a legal firm and a reference to their latest case.

Yep, I can post a picture of my scarred finger if you want, it didn't heal straight and still has a bend to it 38 years later. I don't remember it hurting much.
