Mortgage rates, whats the predictions?

Just heard on the news that the average deposit for a property in London is £100k!

Our mortgage payments went up about £100 a month when we took another 2 yr fix in December which cheesed us off a bit. Got talking to workmate whose had jumped £600 a month that’s gotta hurt.

So not only did she run the government, but she was handy with a trowel and mortar as well? So that's why she only had 4 hours sleep a night. Governments don't build houses, construction companies do.

She didn't sail down to the Falklands with an SLR and a load of 7.62, but she got that sorted as well.
Commanders command, doers do.

The Armed Forces are under the command of the PM of the day (and Parliament). Construction companies are not - they report to their bankers and shareholders. A crucial difference.

Reminds me of the 90s. Loads of my mates ended up simply handing their keys back in. I literally sold mine a few weeks before the rate started climbing, I was so lucky! Sadly the young couple that bought my place got repossessed. Terrible times...

Radio 4 mentioned that including the comment that it’s gone from the bank of mum and dad to the wealthy mum and dad.

I think parents have an obligation to leave a good inheritance otherwise their kids are screwed

Balanced against often needing the funds to pay for their own care.

It's best to be responsible, provide for your retirement, help your kids and pay your own way.

Roughly what we're doing and intending.

Then spend like mad and hopefully run out of money the night before you go completely senile.

Father was completely compos when he died age 91, mum's 96 ...

Planning ahead for timing could be a challenge!

I think most kids are well into being middle aged and having their own kids before inheritance comes into play. Based on prior performance on my fraternal side I'll be a grandfather myself before my Dad's inheritance is a factor! Touch wood.

It's actually very similar to the UK working class moto - "we know our rights"
