New Bimota

This engine will come directly from Kawasaki’s Ninja 1000SX and will be wrapped in a striking Bimota trellis chassis. Producing 140bhp, it’s also likely the new machine will come with Kawasaki’s latest ride-by-wire throttle, which allows the SX to have cruise control.

Summat like that deserves the full fat ZX10R engine. Not one from a sports tourer.

No need, there's no hoses going to them.

Once upon a time Japanese bikes had powerful, reliable engines in a chassis that didn't handle or brake very well. It was a good idea to put these engines in a lighter, more capable chassis and charge a premium for a bike that could be used to its full potential, and looked drop dead gorgeous too. These days the only benefit you get is the exclusive name on the tank.

IIRC Kawasaki bought a majority share in Bimota.

So Bimota is now to Kawasaki's what Lexus is to Toyota?

49%, so just under a majority.

Bimota have always used bits from other manufacturers though haven't they?

If you're into engineering and beautifully machined parts it'll be brilliant.

Typical enginnering bias on the presentation and render, a good render artist would have made that look so much nicer.

Yeah, the first letter of the model name was the engine manufacturer, SB were Suzuki's, KB Kawasaki, DB Ducati, etc... I suspect they'll mostly be using Kawasaki engines now though.

I have a soft spot for Bimota's. The H2 powered Tesi is a fantastic looking motorcycle. How it will handle who knows but I'd have one in my dream garage, along side the V-due(dud) and an SB6R.

SB8R for me. Parked next to my RC45 and 916 as part of my 90's Superbike Dream Team.

90s era Tesi here.

Although the DB6 has caught my eye a few times. They're cheap enough to be sensible, but i don't think they're special enough to warrant the price. Catch 22 :D

That's challenging ! But would be classed as 'ok' as it's very different.... I half like it half hate it.

Only the engines. That's how they started out.

There were a few Yamaha engined Bimotas I liked back in the day, they had Giancarlo Falappa racing in WSB on the YB4? Must have been 88-90 or so cos it was before Performance Bikes went all Ladmag with its content.

Plus there were a few Suzuki engined ones I liked.
Realistically I just wanted a Tesi though.

I'd need to see it in the flesh. That 'drawing',or whatever it is,makes it look like a Tonka toy.
