There's a section where some blokes are 'wild' skating on frozen lakes.
It looked amazing. Really amazing. I've never had any interest is ice skating (even when I did my YTS at a leisure centre that did ice skating), but that looked like a proper bucket list activity.
Watch it, I'm sure you'll feel the same way (albeit, I am very drunk).

Watched all 3 episodes yesterday. I'm pretty critical of nature stuff without Attenborough, but I thought Rebecca Ferguson was excellent as a narrator.
The whole thing was really good.
As for the skating thing, bloody nutters, it really looked like some of the ice was very very thin or thinning out from the drone shots and I thought someone was going for a cold swim.

I really want to go to Norway. I had a chance as a few mates went last year but i was too skint to go!
I was watching Troll Hunter again on the weekend and the wilderness in the west of the country looks amazing, i think there is a strange name for the collection of forested areas there but i forget what it is.
Defo on my list of places i want to go. I'm really not into hot places and architecture but do like a nice hike though the forests plus it won't be too hot over there.

When did skating outdoors become wild. Swimming in the sea is now wild. Camping is wild. Fucking wild sauna is a think now. Bloody outdoors is wild i am staying in as it sound dangerous.

I worked with a company in north Sweden for a while, they go skating on the frozen sea quite a bit in the winter, seems to be a popular family activity, they will go for a family Sunday skate for a few km on the sea in the same way we go for a walk. Wasn't tempted to try it myself though! I spent a couple of weeks there in February a few years ago, it was -19 most days. Freaked me out a bit when they put me in the car (astra estate) and drove off on ice covered roads at the same speeds we drive on summer tarmac, all on studded tyres ...

There's a reasonable size industry in Finland testing cars on frozen lakes. They're great for getting ABS/Stability Control/Tractional Control and all that hoo-ha working. Big, flat, reliably available slippery spaces to drive about on. Also really good for general 'fucking cold' testing

A few years back I (wild) swam in the Baltic and later in the year (wild) walked on it too. I also went on the Øresund bridge by car and by train.

I had a go at wild kite flying on the Welsh coast a few months back, it was far too wild and it all went in the bin.
