The ME doesn't work like that, you vote for the strong guy. Hammas would probably win an election in Gazza tomorrow.
In a way, we all vote for the strong guy.
Maybe the Gaza people mistook brutality and fanaticism for actual strength.
In this conflict, Hamas took a Toyota to a tank fight.
I don't careless about global conflicts...the human race will never change, eventually we'll be gone, Greed and a lack of food and water will see to that. Population will become unsustainable and it will become a fight for survival between the rich and powerful.
The powerdrive of greed will worsen, poor folk will struggle and class wars will worsen. I do take my hat off to Greta and the greens for trying, but in reality, they are just pissing in the wind.
Enjoy what we have for as long as possible. I believe this century will be our last.

I didn't say it was a sensible thing to do. And the response is what you would expect - from a wild animal. A civilized human society should do better.

How would you persuade Hamas not to repeat or outdo their October performance?

A limited military response would suffice. Genocide is OTT, but that is what some of the hard-line Zionists actually want.

I suppose you could turn the other cheek. That's the Christian thing to do, but 1. neither party is Christian and 2. what happens when you run out of cheeks?

Limited to what?

Some of you guys say “genocide” a lot. Only one side in this dispute has genocide as a clearly (loudly!) stated official policy and it ain’t the Jewish side.

Yebut, the side that hasn't said genocide actually seems to be heading towards doing it.

Luckily*, the Islam side, that do want to commit genocide, appear to be incapable of it.
*Luckily for a lot more people than just the Israelis.
Civilians in Gaza are dying because Hamas are choosing to fight their pointless, losing war in the midst of the Gaza civilians.

Civilians in Gaza are dying because the IDF is bombing the shit out of apartment blocks.

Take it as a useful warning, if you ever decide to start a war, thinking you can hide behind non-combatants.

It's immaterial to the IDF. They'll bomb anyone, combatants or non-combatants.

When did “the news” say: “They'll bomb anyone, combatants or non-combatants.”?
And which objective, impartial news service was it?
To be fair to you and your undergraduate indignance, they (and anyone waging war) will more or less disregard a certain level of innocent casualties, in pursuit of their objectives.
You’d do the same, or you would lose all your wars.

Well, that's all right then. I feel so reassured, especially by your patronising tone. Where do you set the threshold of 'a certain level', pray?
