Re: The Best Looking Bike Ever?
There's more than a few Japanese bikes with really fucking ugly engines & would benefit from some plastic to hide it... OTOH there are some engines that "look right" & should be displayed for all to see (ZRX11 is one, but the ZRX12 looks godawful with those bronze colored engine covers)

Re: The Best Looking Bike Ever?
Over here there is a sarny version called racing. It's got everything on
Pronounced rassing.
We often call to the fishing harbour for a fish butty. But get the racing version sometimes.
Fresh fish, ham, cheese, egg and salad.
Fresh baguette.
4 euros

Re: The Best Looking Bike Ever?
It’s the wrong title, it should state “what bike do you think is the best looking”……..because some of the choices are howlers.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 6:09 pm This thread shows that different people like different bikes, it's like asking what's the best sandwich.

You're all wrong, there's more bread in a sandwich than filling, none of you have specified what bread you'd make your best sandwich with.

Ahem. I believe Mr Rockburner specified sourdough.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 8:20 pm You're all wrong, there's more bread in a sandwich than filling, none of you have specified what bread you'd make your best sandwich with.
Me? I'll go for a Kalamata olive ciabatta roll, with very slightly mashed up Ortiz sardines and a few slices of vine ripened cherry toms.

Are we allowed to toast this sandwich, or is that something different?

No, I didn't read your post properly, it was Xmas day and I'd had too much sugar.Rockburner wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 10:02 pmAm i on ignore?Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 8:20 pm You're all wrong, there's more bread in a sandwich than filling, none of you have specified what bread you'd make your best sandwich with.

I'm going sourdough croque monsieur then I totally agree with the comments about bread. But sourdough toast is in another league man.
Runner up bagel with salmon, cream cheese and dill. Toasted, natch.

Re: The Best Looking Bike Ever?
I would agree that a sealed up toasted sandwich (a "breville") is something different.
Key distinction for me is whether it's closed around the perimeter. It'd be like calling a Calzone a Pizza otherwise!

Re: The Best Looking Bike Ever?
I have to disagree, so long as it's two slices of bread with a filling, IMO opinion it's a sandwich, pop tarts are more like a fruit pie (I think, as I've never had one), crispy pancakes are a form of tortilla. Calling a Calzone a sandwich is like calling Pizza cheese and tomato on toast.Potter wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 8:44 am If we're venturing off piste onto toasties then we're into a whole different universe, I'd argue that a toastie is not strictly a sandwich, when John Montague wanted a snack he didn't ask for his new invention to be toasted. Otherwise you might as well include pop tarts, Findus crispy pancakes and all other manner of cooked snack.

How about carbon sandwiches?
Willing to bet the carbon swingarm in Mango's GP bike features some.

Re: The Best Looking Bike Ever?
It depends if it was the 888 Strada or an 888 SP. The Stradas are a fair bit heavier than the SP models, as the SP is pure race rep; no passenger, lightweight alloy subframe, significantly more power etc. Don't bother with a Strada, the SP is the one to go for.Potter wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 3:55 pm I went to look at an 888 honestly expecting to come home with it, but just sitting on it and taking it off the stand put me off, it felt incredibly heavy and unwieldy, it was a bit weird, the weight felt low down but really cumbersome with it. When I put it back on the side stand it leaned over quite far and I was worried that the stand wouldn't take the weight, it felt that bad.
The sidestand on some of the 851/888 models has a 'safety' feature that automatically flicks up the side stand when you lift it up, so you can't ride away with the stand down. After complaints from angry owners who'd crunched expensive plastics etc. by lifting bikes off the sidestand and then putting the bike back onto an absent stand, this 'feature' was dropped. The stand does work, but doesn't really inspire confidence, I grant you.
