There are some things that look like hockey pucks but tbh it doesn't look like Christmas dinner. I guess they do things differently in Dubai.

However, Yorkshire puds have NO place at all in a Christmas dinner. Roast beef/Yorkshire pud/gravy/roasties....fine. But that's just a Sunday lunch/dinner, not Christmas.

I walked up a mountain this morning (not all the way up, but damn it was good ) - then went to work expecting a quiet day and sorting some work things with my favourite colleague.

WRONG!!!

It was MENTAL!! I hardly did any office work as everytime I sat down I had to go back out and do an 'in resort' transfer!! FFS!! TBF they were all ok until another work colleague needed an in resort transfer. But they were all pissed. Not a bit pissed, proper pissed. They might as well have been english drunks for the behaviour!! LOL When I got back I just said that I was not available for their return!! LOL Forgot to take a break and stop to eat n drink so by 6pm I was Hangry!! LOL

Finished and met one of my favourite bus drivers to give him some gingerbread (start and trees not men - he might have preferred the later ) then went to join the favourite driver for part of dinner. He was a bit stressed so I didn't tell him the biscuits were ginger - he always has a smutty comment about anything with ginger in it!! LOL

Now home and about to go to bed cos i have an early start tomorrow I do have to meet the favourite driver tomorrow as I missed out on the christmas kiss he promised!!

But, for now I do have the Australian Firefighters calendar to look at!! The pressie I managed to not open until this morning

My chrimble *dinner* was a pastrami(grilled) sarnie with red onion & a thin slice of pepperjack in it, then I had a mug of coffee.

Yorkies are a staple of any roast dinner, including xmas dinner.
I like yorkshire puddings and today was my first roast of the year, bit of a bummer that the yorkies were crap and ended up in the bin

There isn't much of a social drinking culture out here, I think there were one or two glasses of champagne and a couple of cocktails, but it was mainly in the garden in the evening.

Alcohol is a nasty drug, it's certainly the drug that causes the most trouble and arguments, frankly best avoided at big family gatherings.
No doubt the Brit tourists did us proud, there would have been drinking and fighting at some of the tourist hotspots in town.

There was a fender bender on Long Island a few days ago between two truck loads of British relatives. They promptly got out of the two trucks & started beating the crap out of each other, partly with fists & feet & partly with anything that came to hand including sticks & at least one fence post.

I like the odd drink, but I do so hate people that are shitfaced! Had to drive some French yesterday, one is a colleague who was very shitfaced. Not my idea of fun and I now avoid places that are full of drunks. Given that I used to run pubs, people think that's weird. But I didn't drink at all until I was in my 30's (did try a few drinks, just didn't like them!) and even then (and now) I rarely had/have more than a couple. I guess that because I've always lived alone, I never drink so much that I can't get myself home !!

Merry Xmas ya filthy animals!

Bit of a disaster day for us, especially cooking wise. Got yakking and over boiled the spuds so they turned to mush. Fortunately we'd over bought all the veg so was able to get some more on, but they were plain white potatoes and not maris pipers and they just don't roast the same. Also we'd bought a brisket from the highly recommended local butchers, but despite being in the slow cooker for many hours it was tough as old boot and we couldn't serve it! What we did serve went down well though, but it certainly wasn't our finest hour.

M-i-L was ill and didn't come and that upset the wife as her mum is 93 and has dementia and of course it could be her last xmas. They are coming over for a hour or two today though. Today should be better day as everyone is here and we bought my Son-in-Law a karaoke mic! Plus my daughter announced the are going to stay for a couple of days too and that always brightens the place up!

First Christmas in years what was not at our house. It was great not having the cooking stress and i never had to wash up what was a bonus. Two families scoffing round the table having a good old laugh. Lots off booze and no fighting. Well the dog did chase the car into a corner and the cat started to hiss back but no blood

Had a couple at the local bar and saw lots of pals.
Then down to beach to meet the neighbours and grown up son.
By 'ell. They know how to cater. 4 big coolie boxes rammed with amazing food (hot and cold) and gallons of booze.

Just nibbled and sipped till Sunday went down about 6.
Then to theirs for Xmas cake. Introduced them to having it with cheese.
