Can I politely suggest one takes a trip to Spec Savers, 4 cylinder Suzukis are fantastic bikes, but the GSX1000 range are all a bit cosmetically challenged.

Don't forget that bike weights these days are full of fluids and with a 90% full tank of fuel... As opposed to what they used to quote, which was no fluids and no fuel, as if you were going to push it everywhere rather than ride it!
It is a great engine yeah, albeit for 2 up, it lacks a little low end drive...
As for the price... You'll be able to get £2k off list soon enough I'm sure... Early adopters will get their arses handed to them with resale values within 6-12 months as is usual with Suzuki IMO. Don't forget the extra tech that's gone into this one though (6 axis IMU etc.), nor the fact that real world inflation rate is more like 10% in the UK right now than the 3.9% the government will admit to... An MT-10 was £9999 when they were released in 2016... It's a £14.2k bike now, and it doesn't even have electronic suspension like this new Suzuki does to justify the cost!
226kg... So only a 6kg penalty for the longer travel suspension, better ergonomics, 6 axis IMU etc. on the GX... Not bad at all I'd say!
My 2020 GSX-S1000F is 214kg wet apparently, and in all honesty, feels very much like 190ish kg bikes I've had in the past... Certainly it's a LOT lighter than the "208kg" VFR800 I owned for a while...

I know a few people with Desert X's now, none have had a single problem so far. All done a good few miles now too.
Having had a go on my mates it's a proper good fun bike too, far more suitable for most UK road riding than the stereotypers will ever admit... I'd have one in a heartbeat if it was more suitable for 2 up touring, but that's where bigger road biased Adventure Bikes like my 1290SA, BMW GS's and Multistradas win still...
Still miss my 21 plate Factory version... To be fair, the normal Tuono has a bit of a "special" look with the square shaped taller screen, the ugly pillion pad, the taller bars and lower pegs etc... I sat on one at the NEC, and there was nothing I could fault from that limited experience, however I liked the GT version more, but that's because I've moved more towards a sport touring type of ride.
I'd look at Suzuki as and when I get bored of the KTM. I liked their range of "old man" touring type bikes.

Looked at this at the show, an adv style bike and riding position on 17’s. Same as a bmw s1000xr which is £5k more and less reliable. My bro has the naked Suzuki this is based in and the engine is brilliant. The Kawasaki versys is similar but 40hp down. Unless you’re going off road this has to be one of the best adv bikes out there for price, power and spec

You get taller bar risers... A fugly rectangular screen... And a huge pillion pad that still provides bugger all support for an actual pillion anyway.
All of these things are available cheaply from Aprilia if, for whatever reason, you wanted to uglify your Factory Tuono anyway...
It's still as thirsty as Oliver Read after a month in rehab...
Factory suspension is immeasurably better...

Having owned the first version of the S1000XR, I wasn't impressed. Reliability wasn't an issue, but the fit and finish was very poor for the money paid (and mine was a year old ex demo bike, and "cheap"). The engine is a noisy box of rattles, gear shifting is dubious, and feck me, do they like to run hot - Stupidly hot. Doing 40 in a 40 mph zone and the water temperature is at 100 degree C; that's wrong, and shows they've under cooled it.
It went well, and handled well, but I'd not rush back to a BMW, not for the money they now want.
