Homda CB350 Custom
I used to have a stock one of these as a Winter hack. Very pleasant to ride.
A reasonably tidy job. Not too hipsterish.

Oh lordy, pampas, avocado, some horrid blue and a sort of puke yellow. Such times!

I kind of like it but I think the seat's too small and the headlight's prissy. I prefer it like this:

Re: Homda CB350 Custom
Nice enough, but the angle of the rear shock makes me twitch for some reason.

Re: Homda CB350 Custom
Unless there's some kind of rocker arm out of sight, I'm struggling to see how that shock would compress as the swing arm moves upwards.

Re: Homda CB350 Custom
It'll definitely compress/extend. It just might not do it very well But yeah the suspension is not "locked". It'll move.

Re: Homda CB350 Custom
I once installed a shock absorber upside down on my msx125 because the "gas bottle" (probably just a pretty bit of cast metal) needed more clearance.
Turns out the damping disappears if you do that, since the oil doesn't touch the valving. Not sure this shock will work right either.

Re: Homda CB350 Custom
It's certainly possible to mount a shock at that angle and for it to work well, you just need the suspension/linkages to be expecting it.

Moreover, it needs to be a pressurised shock so the oil goes to the valves.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 9:21 am It's certainly possible to mount a shock at that angle and for it to work well, you just need the suspension/linkages to be expecting it.

Re: Homda CB350 Custom
What's really daft about that rear shock is that if you moved the swingarm mount down and the frame mount up it would work fine.

Re: Homda CB350 Custom
It's a bad copy of an early LC swingarm/shock layout with the geometry all to cock.
