That's why modern military aircraft don't have their tail fins at 90°to the fuselage, it makes a very good radar reflector. They left 'em on the moon too! Corner reflectors that is, not military aircraft.

Have you ever noticed how road signs flash in time with your indicators, but nobody else's? That's cause they use the same concept, so they reflect your own indicator light back to you really well but not everyone else's.

Next is of two figures in full hi-vis gear near a full chevrons & battenburg vehicle. Both vehicle and PPE use microprismatic materials.

This picture was taken using a luminance camera. The scene was lit by overhead lighting and a single vehicle's dipped beam headlamps (note that the ankle bands reflect more light than the bands higher up the PPE).

FYI Luminance values for the figure on left

- Most of the fluorescent clothing has a luminance of about 2 cd/m2
- The reflective stripes on the upper body are about 3 or 4 cd/m2
- The reflective stripes around the ankles are about 40 cd/m2

Any pointers as to where I can buy a removable yellow cover to suit a 7" dia headlight? I've tried Google & it just shows me a load of metal guards...

No guarantees on anything, but I am inclined towards the inverse of the Swiss Cheese model. Lots of little things that MAY help increase the odds of being seen. Still no guarantee, but the odds improve, maybe only slightly but every little helps.

So I will use extra lights, retro reflective hi viz, z-line, trying to maintain a safety bubble, and anything else to hand. I would use a yellow light cover, but they don't fit.

Tis why I have an orange hi-viz rather than yellow, my extra lights have a switch, and I actually think about when/if stuff may help.
