Second preserves it
Third pisses it all away.*

Bloke I know was one of four siblings who each inherited $2Billion.. but he was third generation & actually preserved it.
Died fairly young, was divorced so no wife to inherit it all
Two kids, the son also died early (in his 40's) & was gay. The daughter is a lesbian & pretty hard to look at... so fuck knows where the money will end up.

Nor would I, I doubt I have enough time left to spend it all even if I wanted to.

Buy a dream house, stock the garage with a few cars and bikes, make sure all my family is OK, spread a modest sum around to a few dozen charities, and still have megabucks left. Then some serious research on a few charities to see exactly what they would do with the rest. The best answers win the jackpot.

I'm not even convinced I'd buy a dream house. I'd just rent one or two. (I'd not exactly need to worry about increasing asset value and could happily dump issues around maintenance back in the owners lap ) Houses are nice to live in but looking after a big one is...a job I suppose I could do what a chap in Peaslake does...has a gardener/handyman that lives in a cottage on his quite extensive plot but employees can be as much - if not more - pain as property.

My dream house isn't huge - well, the garage might be! I mean sure, the dream is to have a chalet in resort - but I doubt I could live in one by myself and even I don't want that many cats!!!

I'd like a really nice apartment with a spare room (maybe two, but two in total really would be enough!) on the ground floor. Much easier to manage than a whole chalet.

It'd be more likely I'd buy a chalet and rent it to a tour operator but have it booked out for Christmas and January so friends and family could come and stay!! Or something like that!!

I will probably need to wear a numpty bib and buy some leathers ( I have never done a track day), but trust me, I will be there! Free Panigale AND brownies can't miss that!
