Some of the most fun times I had on track were on my gixxer 6.
Whilst the litre bikes are frantically scrubbing speed off for a corner, you're still pinned.
600 or 1,000, all corner at same speed.
That wasn't what he said.
OK. So 600s are so slow you don't need to brake?

No not that either. He's saying you can brake later on a 600 than on a 1000. Whether that's down to power, speed, weight or momentum in some way, i don't know... but i do know i could brake later on my 690 than other bikes.

If we were side by side, same speed, I'd outbrake you.
I don't get his point.

OK, so if i were on a 690 and a 1000 at 125mph into a turn, would I outbrake me... It's not a question of whether you can corner faster, or you can outbrake me... his point is, he can brake later on a 600 than a 1000.

Sounds like the car track test I posted about some time ago. The Caterham R wasn't the most powerful or fastest in a straight line (it was almost certainly the lightest) but it still lapped faster than everything else they took along. (It did arrive and leave on a trailer though :D ).

TBH though, I think it's mostly the rider/driver that makes the difference, until you get to a certain level.

No he can't. Compare GSXR1000 and GSXR600.
Same weight but the thou has better brakes. Ergo litre bike slows quicker.

I've ridden plenty bikes in anger on track.
A thou can do lots of things better than a 600.
There's nothing that a 600 can do better than a thou.
Plain physics.

Who's running the book on this one?

I'll have a fiver on it being sold before the first trackday.

Yorick you are an absolute melt at times, you’re “outbraking” nobody.

As for the thou having better brakes, the brakes on the GSXR are absolute pish, they don’t last on the road let alone the track, but I suppose you’d have to ride it hard enough to find out.

He probably won’t see this because I’m on his block list or whatever it’s called, there’s only so much shite he can spout before I have to pipe up 😂

Just shut the fuck up and let the man enjoy his bike, it’s not all about you ffs and your pathetic Gixer thou.

Let's put it into terms so simple even you can understand.
If 2 riders of equal skill approach a 50mph corner, one doing 150mph, the other 140mph, which one has to brake 1st?

I'd imagine it's simply, the faster you're going, the earlier you brake. If i was on the RE I wouldn't need to brake at all. 🙂

Cracking little bikes, i love ZX6's and just a shame my knees dont anymore. A quick spin on one is manageable but anything prolonged is just too cramped.

Enjoy it both times you ride it before selling it

Top choice old boy IMO

Any plans for bolting bits on / taking bits off, or will you just whack better tyres on it and go?

I’ll put standard exhaust on and lose the full system which looks rubbish tbh. Then it’s brake fluid, pads and sticky tyres. Doesn’t need anything else for me for track use. It’s got a standard QS which is all I would have added if it hadn’t. My last one on track was standard and it out performed me no problem.
Only decision is which tyres, easy choice is supercorsas so prob won’t overthink it, a rear would last me 3-4 days and the front double that. I do wonder how something like a sportsmart TT would do though as no warmers needed and would work on the road too.

Consider the power RS, power GP or even the power cup 2’s, perfect for the track and can be used on the road no probs.
